Has anyone heard if/when they might get rid of the hybrid schedule and make us return to office? Wondering if there would be any flexibility with how many days are required or if it would be up to the department head

@nx cool
@OP All you people freaking out about RTO should pray you still even have a job. I'm guessing the people who don't want to come back don't do much work on the OOO days. If I were SD, RTO is the first thing I'd mandate.
Sterner from Amazon being Chief People Officer seems like a terrible sign for everything...from PTO to remote/hybrid work.
On the other hand...from what I've been able to dig up on Skydance and Oracle...remote/hybrid is available based on role and department. So the Ellison's seem to have some flexibility.
Not sure if RTO and PTO will be Sterner led or Ellison led. We shall see...
@k0 It would depend upon how much office space is available in CA and how many NY jobs would be removed or displaced.
I can't believe people haven't brought up the idea that a whoooooole bunch of New York jobs are going to get eliminated and all of that work will move closer to Pa and Son Ellison out in Californ-I-A. Cheeks seems like a textbook Los Angeles creature, so it wouldn't be crazy to think that he'll move most of the TV operations out there so he's closer to the center of gravity (and the rest of the Skydance legacy leadership).
We have team working from the Caribbean so how would that work?
That's definitely a strange but plausible theory, that they would make a RTO move with the expectation that some people would just leave on their own accord.
@h2 Skydance is in the office 4 days week now. The rumor for a long time has been we'd be aligned with that schedule. Sterner was head of HR at Amazon when they went to 5 days at the behest of the CEO.
Yes, it would lead to an exodus but it could be what the new management team wants. It saves them the bad vibes of layoffs and there's no need to pay severance.
If I personally survive, I'll be OK with going in 4-5 days per week vs my current mandatory 2 days per week (I'm under PW's umbrella), but I definitely understand how that will be problematic for many who have necessarily evolved to the hybrid model, as that also was mandatory for a long time. I had no plans to have a home office, but I had to come up with one in short order in 2020 whether I liked it or not. Our group was fully remote for an entire year or so.
A hard, abrupt change to RTO won't be easy for many who have had to build their lives around hybrid the last few years.
These are all just rumors? The office has been completely dead. No one even cares if I go in or not. I think this will be entirely too hard to mandate without a mass exodus.
@g5 I didn’t say we lost 2000 in 1515. I said NYC. And I’m glad you have the inside information for the casino being approved.
Having the former head of HR from Amazon as our new one pretty much guarantees we're sc--wed on a variety of issues including mandating some type of RTO.
@cg we didn’t lose 2000 people in 1515. Also 1515 is going to be approved for a casino.
Oh he-l no, is this guarantee for all sectors/departments?
@ck I was hired fully remote and the company knew I did not live anywhere near a headquarters. I wonder if they will expect us to move (and pay the relocation fees) or make an exception for those that were hired remote.
on the GC side we have heard a return four days a week - announced soon so people can prepare
figuring out office space situation no answer on fully remote - whether it's from moving the company knows about or hired on as fully remote
@bs but remember there have been around 2000 layoffs in nyc in the last year, so space is increasing in 1515. Making return to office easier
Pretty sure Skydance has their teams in office 4 days a week. I know Phil Wiser told tech that they had to start coming in 2 days a week at least. Probably as a startup to Skydance wanting people back in even more. I know a good amount of employees who do not live anywhere close to 1515. Should be interesting.
I had heard they wanted 4 days a week as well. Maybe they start with 3 and see how it goes. I am convinced most don't really work on Fridays anyways.
Having trouble connecting return to office and unloading real estate. How do they do both?
@aa bingo with the exception it will be 4 days a week and they are still deciding on truly remote workers. Redbird is bringing in a bunch of media senior citizens who have no sense of the modern workforce. It’s a shame because David seems the opposite.
I strongly believe a full return to office will be announced later this year but not take effect until January. They have to give people time to adjust.
But yeah remote workers will be sc--wed as I doubt there will be any exceptions especially if they were in the office before.
The easiest way to shed employees is make everyone go back to work 5 days a week. Some have moved away and can’t. First to go and won’t need to pay severance
Bye bye remote workers.
