There is some truth to this post. There will be a substantial layoff at the end of fiscal. Question is how big? I have have heard numbers 5-8k?

That number is now 20% higher as many undergoing PIP and on their way out.

Cisco finds PIP as effective, quick, painful 😓, and it saves on paying severance.

ELT should just make it a regional thing. Go to your local Cisco office. No need to pay for all those expenses. Besides a free vacation for the sales team, nothing of value would be lost.

I have heard some truly shocking numbers that at least some BUs will have to meet. How general it is across the company, I don't know. But they are definitely planning something.

I have a large and substantial package. My package is in fact bulging.

What was the question?

@ph Nothing I’d love more than flaunting off the big package and spreading the reaped reward.

I have a (the) package you are all clamoring for!

Come upfront and reveal. It’s isn’t the best out there.

There is no lay off this or next quarter. Stock is piping hot. Layoff whatever dr-g you are taking.

Received the package now eight years ago. It was honestly one of the best life changes. At the time was very sad to go, but looking back feel so fortunate for many good years at Cisco, but mostly for the freedom after Cisco.

If you indeed know technology, you need not worry. Have switched jobs several times since leaving.

If you however are a work politician, a master of powerpoints (and not much more), you will have a rude awakening. We interview people all the time from Cisco. Rarely do any clear the technical interview.

So make sure you know technology. If not, go do something else. Stop being phoney.

@fc what IBM employees have to do with Cisco?

I'm guessing @a6 picked a number far greater than the number of employees at Cisco to mock the endless 10,000 or 20,000 layoff posts that keep popping up here year after year after year. @fc probably couldn't think of another company that had a lot of employees, noting IBM hasn't had over 400,000 employees in a while.

Fun fact: Cisco spent $2B to acquire IBM's networking hardware division in 1999:

@fc what IBM employees have to do with Cisco? Have you been working from home for so long you forgot who you work for, or are you double dipping?

@a6 this is correct. Cisco is actually laying off all IBM employees.

70k actually. All work can be done by R2J2 and Chat GPT making his slide decks.

We're in Q4 not Q3. Layoffs are typical in Q1 not Q4.

Ah, for the days when layoffs occurred every quarter. Predictable. Reliable. Unlike Cisco's software.

This is all bull. But I have heard that end of 3rd quarter there will be a department / team internal evaluation where each member has to provide evaluation raking of their team mates. This will be used for 4th quarter layoff.

20-25% is what most tech companies are saying to start. Realistically they are aiming for most, to become the most autonomous with the least debt and most revenue without having to pay so much $$$$ for people who really aren't doing a heck of a lot most days.

actual layoff numbers will be 110%

the extra 10% are school age children who might have been employed one day by Cisco but are being terminated pre-emptively before they can even get on payroll...
