Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Can’t wait for TSMC’s new chip to come out.

Panther Lake. All the proof you need that Intel Fab is fu---d.

Keep telling yourself that Intel is having Panther Lake made at TSMC to compare for the “Whales”.
The rest of the world sees it for what it is. Intel can’t make a fu--ing a18a chip yet! If we could we would, just to prove that we can. It’s obvious. OPEN YOUR EYES.

If Intel foundry could not manufacture 18A for Panther Lake, then Intel has no proof to show other customers that 18A is ready, and IFS will not have revenue.

@df It must be admitted that Intel does not have its own good product today, but Intel has the best process on the market today. And the best thing Intel can do today is to compare the same product made using Intel and TSMC technologies. There is no other way to convince the "whales".

Just a few simple notes... 1. How far is China from finally absorbing Taiwan? 2. Is anyone still fantasizing about US aid to Taiwan after the US already betrayed the interests of Europe, Canada, and Ukraine? 3. Are we really believe that Communist leaders of China so stupid as to wait for the next US elections while the current President will close now any deal to lower gas price, increase tariffs, a few construction contracts for him and his friends, and a personal jet? 4. How many months/weeks do we have before we see a line of CEOs outside Intel's doors trying to place their orders at any price?

@ck The issue is -You need a backup plan. That fact alone speaks volumes to potential customers

Intel marketing is selling Fab As a Service like a brand new Lamborghini.

Reality shows Intel Fab is like a broken down 1978 Nova in the process of getting a new engine.

Intel can’t depend on its own fabs to produce Intel chips. And you think Whales will come? No amount of intel talk or marketing spin is going to change the FACTS.

@cf Your speculations about poor PantherLake yield at Intel fabs are nonsense and untrue. Intel Divisions are now free to place their orders for production at both Intel and TSMC fabs. The purpose of placing PantherLake production at both Intel and TSMC fabs is either both processes sensing side-by-side or kind of a backup plan.

so lemme get this straight (@b8….) yields are so poor on 18A that to launch Panther Lake we need to rely on an inferior process from TSMC to have sufficient volume for launch?

yoikes.

@OP We are all also waiting for the first PantherLake chips manufactured by TSMC. For Intel, PantherLake at TSMC is a purely marketing and advertising move to attract semiconductor "whales" and is a hidden trap for TSMC. 2nm from TSMC without PowerVia and with fewer RibbonFets per unit area compared to 18A PantherLake from Intel has little chance in terms of performance. Especially in the first year of launching 2nm technology at TSMC. In contrast, PantherLake from Intel is already certified and has been produced for more than a year in fairly large volumes, with a decent yield and excellent performance. Even if the product's performance is the same at both factories, this will immediately determine the necessary tariff that must be imposed on semiconductors manufactured in Taiwan to return chip production to the USA. Show must go on.

@am Intel will have 18A once they ask TSMC to make it.

Where is 18A? Intel said it is better than TSMC
