Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Can they be trusted at all?

OL could have been the best company to work for if it wasn’t controlled by XOM, but unfortunately reality is different and it’s heading in the wrong direction.
If you have the opportunity to leave, you definitely should.
Management is actually indirectly telling you that the future is for KL and BTC, you are a high cost burden for the company. They can’t be more clear, don’t listen to what they say but rather what they do. They have been lying since the start of the pandemic and I remember clearly on the intranet in April 2020 the articles that were saying “IOL is well positioned for current market conditions and we don’t anticipate workforce reductions”

I like this post (thread +1aYNvoVl ). It's just that I don't think there are people here anymore who believe their empty stories. I hope so anyway.

Lol. Definitely some truth to the poster and motivational videos part. Had a few coworkers who were in both, and then let go in a little under a few months 🤦‍♂️

Stay positive all you want but IOL will never care about your opinion or advocating, unless it is meaningless window dressing for a poster or motivational video.

This company is run by mo--ns and engineers. It's in a death spiral.

There were never meant to be trusted in the first place. I wish I had learnt that earlier.

Not sure. I do my best to stay positive and advocate for what I believe will help IOL based on what I see. All we can do is either advocate with conviction for what we believe will better the company and hope to have an honest discussion or choose to leave if we are unhappy. Whatever you choose - staying true to yourself will always lead to a better situation in the long term :) best of luck in either case!
