Bonus and merit increase cutoff

How do merit increased and bonuses work for a new employee if they joined near the end of the year?

Is there a cutoff date for getting the bonus in Q1 2023 if I joined in late 2022? If yes, would it just be the percentage of earnings in 2022?

What about merit increases? Is is just prorated for the time I had in 2022 or is there a cutoff date?

Bonus would be prorated based on when you started. Raise..... Not sure

No. Best to start worrying about getting run off and what next cr---y job you will end up in this messed up and totally non-technical industry that rewards BS artists.

As with every job offer I received, HR was clear regarding salary, bonus, long term incentives, savings plans, vacation days, etc. Unless you found a cure for cancer in your brief time at the company, I would focus on next year's goals and objectives and not worry about this.

What is wrong with 12 hours a day for a salaried professional? You do what is necessary and that is why you get LTI, the annual bonus, and nice raises. You should even work on weekends if you have to. But on weekends it is OK to average 3 hours per day. Maybe even take a whole day off. If you don’t want to give it your best effort then go elsewhere. Please don’t overload the organization with people and the associated overhead.

What @iyx said is correct. Bonus will be pro-rated, and there will be some merit increase to keep you in the salary range.

@jqf+1k6nhogt They need to hire or convince the staff to work 12 plus hours a day. There is a lot of work and we need the help. VSP and layoffs are all part of it. Out with the old and in with the new happens all the time.

Talk to your supervisor or HR rep. It is best to get the info directly from them.

Is Oxy still hiring? This is total insanity as they will just have to lay people off when prices tank down to 40 $/bbl in 2023. It will be the same cycle repeated over and over. Over-hire, offer the VSP, lay people off, reorganize, change the slogan, and then start all over again.

The rating might be NR( no rating) . Your merit increase should hopefully keep you where you are at now in the salary range. The bonus should be pro-rated.

If you want a straight answer, please ask your HR rep. If you want snide comments, lies, and biased, inaccurate viewpoints, you’ve come to the right place at the right place.
