Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

Moved to July 31

Have they moved the layoff date to July 31st now? Seems like it would follow their pattern of missing deadlines.

@ff looks like the a--hole Sikes joined us to post. "It's what healthy companies do". Do healthy companies also threaten employees with getting laid off from other companies (December town hall). Do healthy companies threaten to go public when they aren't making enough money (Women's Day talk). Cargill is worse than I've even seen in my 38 years.

@ce

This is the right answer. There are cost reduction targets set but it won't be a big bang like last December. Some will be through natural attrition, as people quit or retire they won't be replaced, some will be from the sale or closures of facilities and businesses and some will come from transformations still happening, ie in Finance post Compass, HR post new HR strategy with enterprises, and continuing to bring the Food businesses together and taking out redundancies, especially in the support functions.

That said...that's what healthy companies should do.

I just saw a linkedin post of someone who got laid off yesterday. I guess their last day is a week from today. Supply chain role, not sure where exactly they sit within the company.

Im in HR in the US and they aren't going to do another wave of layoffs. Instead, they will lay off one at a time spread out, not in groups. So yes layoffs are coming, but you wont see any announcements about them.
