Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

Working at NCR has become too stressful

Are we ever going be able to relax and stop worrying about our jobs being outsourced?

What a waste of energy working for this place. Noting is spoken about and management being secretive indeed and have no clue what they are doing. Everyone is expected to be as flexible as an elastic band until it breaks and will be replaced by another one. No Overtime no salary increase and in the end a sh---y bonus if any. Time to move on with my dignity.

@cbgj+1oEvYyfi A lot were careers Mikey. Big difference. Two things that I remember while mentoring Serbia representatives were, they didn’t take away jobs, Ncr gave them away. The second one I heard was I don’t want to work for NCR, but I have to. They will move on because you made it just a job.

8 will become 4 within a month. They don’t stay. It will eventually lose 1 more. That’s what i dealt with. There output is less. But I guess they are a lot cheaper

@4iey+1oEvYyfi Those number mean nothing. For every 1 engineer they lay off in the US they hire 8 in India or Serbia.

Number of headcount does not say anything. You probably can get in low cost country 5-10 for the price of 1 replaced in US / West Europe. And there definitely will be layoffs. It is too quiet. Just ride the wave.

I lost my job almost a year ago, the previous years that led up to it NCR gave the worst pay increases ever, as a 23 year employee, the last 10 years pay increases were usually nothing, or 1 percent, once I got 1.5 percent. So I simply did less work to make up for no increases. Took a lot of stress away, and I got the same check I would have gotten if I worked my ar-e off. Finally I was let go 3 years before i was going to leave anyway, all the stress is gone, and still on my severance leave which is 100% of my pay, this in effect made up for all my bad pay increases, lol bottom line is don’t stress out, most people make out better after leaving NCR, it’s a toxic environment to be in, managers constantly pressing you, bad scheduling, never home on time or working nights and weekends, and on top of it now, you maybe let go at anytime…….. don’t stress, do less!

Yea keep personal tips and tricks on a personal notebook. I started doing this around 2009. I was main level2 person for some specific accounts because of so many details. When I was laid off within 3 weeks I was getting calls from account managers saying the field can’t figure this problem out got any ideas? I told them everything is in that account service manual. This happened on 3 different occasions. And it did work perfectly in lab environment. But in the real world that not the case when there was file corruption. The other time Services’s contact me to go around the country and do McDonald’s installs. I asked why you callin me I was laid off. Their response was well we need help and you might need a job. I said no I’m not going go do that just to not have a job after it done. I’ll concentrate on a permanent solution. I don’t owe you anything after 24yr 11mo 16days.

Another account in the later 2000 was a big dining takeout place. Their contract had a professional service representative from NCR staffed on site at one of their center. I work with him a lot. Stellar guy with SCO Unix background. He help develop the software and ncr laid him off. That big nationwide franchise hired him. They then went to depot service from a different vendor.

Thay have made so many mistakes to save some money but cost more I would think in the end.

I was moved at their expense twice for a new Support center that never materialized.

Ive never witnessed waste of money like this except from the wife!

@1uxt+1oEvYyfi forgot something. If you're asked to train someone else either in or out of the country just waste a lot of time and don't really give them anything. If you have no choice then selectively leave out important steps. If their asking to to cross train another person they're telegraphing you're on your way out but are camouflaging it to look like they're trying to help by reducing your workload. Don't fall for it. I've seen it done over a dozen times at NCR.

To reduce stress do as little work as possible, make them lay you off, they probably won’t, , if anyone questions you tell your boss you are under tremendous pressure and stressing, lie to them and say you will do better, lol Document talks with the boss, The stress and worries will all disappear.

If you are a U.S. employee you will never have the luxury of not worrying about your job. Your role can be outsourced any time.
