Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Return To Office

I really dislike the tone of the RTO discussion in the AM Town Hall this morning.

Doesn't Nielsen management know that Nielsen will lose high-performing employees to companies that allow working from home? I think it is already happening.

Commuting every day is such a waste of time for many tech workers, and working from home is a perk a company can offer that boosts worker's quality of life and costs the company less than nothing.

I know I will probably leave if RTO comes to my location.

"nobody talks about RTO because it is unrealistic"

How so? Working in an office environment has been the norm for decades, and now that WFO has been integrated for a few years all else now is unrealistic? Just because you don't like something or agree with it doesn't make it unrealistic. What it really means is your expectations are unrealistic in regards to what your employer is asking you to do. Don't like it? Then you're free to move on to a more realistic environment ... that like a unicorn doesn't exist.

Here's an idea. Go to work and stop acting like the world owes you something. It doesn't. Once you accept this where you work becomes less of an issue, and earning a paycheck becomes the focus.

Or stay home and be broke while complaining on social media about your life and work environment. Or even better, if you're so enlightened about what employers should do, start your own business and set hours and WFH environments for yourself and others. But again that would require effort on your end beyond complaining about your life online.

@c3 This sounds like a planted response. Nobody talks about RTO because it is unrealistic... also Nielsen doesn't have the same real estate they used to ... so why bother? Focus the investment on making customers happy instead of following trendy ideas of elite social groups that pillage the company of real cashflow without return on investment (consulting companies). Thank me later...

@c3 bootlickers like you acting as though they're doing is a favor by benefiting from the true value of our labor is why the job market is in such a sad state. I beg you to get a life.

Crying about having to RTO then saying you'll refuse be a productive employee if having to do it is why the WFH scam is quickly fading away. Personally glad to see it going by the wayside and all of the entitled people now up in arms.

It's called having integrity, even if the current situation doesn't align with your needs or expectations. If being a good employee is only returned when getting your way then by all means I hope they sh*t can you and let you stay at home permanently, with no income and plenty of attitude.

@OP

getting harder and harder to find fully remote, as ceos seem to be running from the same playbook these days.

so, in the meantime, I'll give them what they want. a butt in a seat. not an ambitious, proactive, determined, or productive butt, but a butt nonetheless. have fun!
