Remote Employees

What is the latest everyone is hearing about remote employees? Will they be part of upcoming layoffs or part of Phase 2? I’m still hearing no exceptions for any department will be made even if you were hired as fully remote ( I.e. IT, Sales, etc)

@n2 Agreed. Just to give a example,
someone on my team who lives within commuting distance (~30 minutes) of 1515 only transitioned to remote in 2022 because they refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine. My morale has been down ever since I found that out.

What I would like to know is how certain individuals got away with being fully remote within both NY and LA when they can very easily commute into the office? They made their teams go in every week because it is demanded by HR, all the while lying straight to our faces why they are not in the office, only to find out just recently that they are fully remote! Will they be offered a chance to go into the office (since they can commute) or will they be offered a package? In my opinion, these individuals should just be let go. We don't need liars who preach transparency. This just contributes to an environment with low morale and no trust.

You all are replaceable…especially in this job market. Get a clue.

@bz how are people in places like Texas going to return to the office? You just can't fire every remote worker. There seems to be this undercurrent that all crucial operations will be just dandy if we remove 80% of a particular team that happens to have a lot of remote workers. And before anyone says, "yes you can"...no, you can't.

I find it funny that we are STILL hiring remote people. Wait, I thought we are relying on only NY/LA talent from now on to do everything, right? I thought office "culture" was super important?

Cuts will be across the board the proposed 2000-3000 person layoffs in late October/early November. Phase 1 and Phase 2 people will be cut during that time. Doesn't matter if you live in NY/LA or anywhere else. All of Paramount is vulnerable.

As for RTO in Phase 2, nobody really knows at this point. I've poked around executive/senior leadership and asked very direct questions and nobody knows how RTO will work for people who live in places like Minnesota, Utah, Nevada, Florida, etc.

What I do know is that there are plenty Paramount, CBS, etc.-affliated offices all around the country. If leadership is adamant about getting people in the office, let it be known that they have a lot of office space/real estate that can be filled - and people willing to go to those offices.

I read that 51% of Paramount staff is NOT in NY/LA.

I thought it was pretty clear that phase 1 / Phase 2 was referring to RTO only. The layoffs could be across the board although I assume international will be different depending on local labor laws.
