Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Slate vs Model E?

What do you guys think?

Which one seems more startup, I’m looking to apply to a startup centric company. More fast paced decision making etc.

Yes the BEV pickup truck that barely fits 2 adults and has no stereo system or screen, and can only be ordered with the exterior color slate, and that gets a whopping 147 miles of range, will certainly be a hot seller for generations to come.

Did somebody say data and subscription services? 🤣 I bet they are still holding out on those returns from ArgoAI.

Does Slate lose $4 billion/year?

The upcoming Global Town Hall will be informative and prove the health of Model e and our data/subscription business strategy. Saying "Slate" is comparable is ludicrous.

I mean I wouldn’t feel safe vendor locking myself and building in a place where you get threatened by those double your age. Or people with power. It makes sense. You’d want to take care of the safety and well being before you are on a double bind between leaving and continuing to build in a hostile environment. I guess this could be the outcome for younger talent. I wonder why we don’t see much young talent in Michigan. Are many of that harassed and targeted and without protection or clarity?? Are they kept in a limbo of uncertainty? So many questions. Stay tuned

Waiting for the North Korean Model e guy to tell us Model e and DF are part of an amazing plan to deliver super awesome happy results

While we are waiting for that Slate is getting stuff done.

Pretty clear to me nobody on this post knows anything about Model e, its culture, its leadership, and how important it is to Ford's future.

You don't even know the correct grammar for it! The "e" is supposed to be a small e and not with a hyphen.

@aj+1js4tprh1 No they are not washing it up, it’s already washed… the meaning is that they are simply wiping it up. read sun tzu article of war.

“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win”.

Ford thinks its play to win, but its play early enough to not lose. Unfortunate result of not changing opinions with new information. Have to be able to adapt when rules have changed. It will be a case study for our kids to learn from one day.

Slate is genius for the name.

They are wiping the slate clean. Washing it up, not washed up. Clever

Slate doesn’t have ford political baggage and is not tied to existing ford processes and technologies. They have less institutional debt which allows for faster paced innovation. Second movers learn from the mistakes of the first, such as the current cultural climate in Model-E. They have an ability to draw the best starting from the foundation level.

Slate

Model e is not startup, it is called that as cope for investors wondering what is going on. The same people in ford are the same people in model e and it is not a startup culture or environment. Slate will value you more and pay appropriately, based in Troy and is a brain child of Bezos. Model-E is a social game internally. Sometimes due inherent attributes, you are at a losing game. Such as race, age, etc. They don’t reward startup backgrounds, only regional such as California. Go for Slate
