Domestically, the threat is diminished, thanks to the Biden administration and I don't think Trump will attempt to roll it back since it goes against his "America First" agenda.
The connected vehicle ban that kicks in in 2027. This rule was finalized by the U.S. Department of Commerce under the Biden administration in May 2025 and not only impacts cars made in China, but also if they desire to follow the Japanese and Koreans in building factories in the USA.
The connected vehicle hardware can be done elsewhere, just not in China, and tariffs will impact where those components are made if outside the US.
Ford ki-led U759, it won't surprise me if other programs that are much farther along are ki-led as a cost cutting measure.
