Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

A direction

Lumen is once again hiring someone from Microsoft. Shedding certain assets. An increase in insider stock buying. Makes you wonder if Ms. Johnson is not possibly setting up the company to be acquired.

@OP I don't think they announced it to employees.
From Microsoft and AI. Why would they an AI person if they just provide the backbone for it?
Maybe another change in direction?

Microsoft may be cutting people but it is incredibly profitable.

Are you sure a bankruptcy shuts down all operations overnight? We’re bankrupt. Turn off the lights and lock the doors.

MS isn't buying Lumen. Kate's Rolodex is paper thin and MS influx reflects that. Just like the Rogers losers in Enterprise.

MS has been cutting people for years (including Kate). Those are just familiar faces available for work. Look at the LinkedIn profiles of Kate's posse. None are MS lifers.

I think it’s apparent where the focus is in debt reduction(understandingly so) and more so ridding of assets to reduce size for acquisition. I would think MS has a target for Lumen to hit in debt amount before acquiring. The increase of MS executives could be a signal of getting close to making MS pull trigger. The acquisition from MS is not good also will lead to first infiltrating with In Dee and then slowly replacing white and non in Dee ans. Don’t believe look at google and ms layoff Americans and why apply for H1b waivers in 1000s. No American company should allow that on a company in its soil.

There is no genuine effort besides lip service to fix operational processes, hire folks in the operations side for clients etc. which is indicative of not caring for long term or internal sustainable processes.

@cg how much longer can Lumen go Year over year of not turning a profit, how many more fiscal cans can it kick down the road.. before it goes belly up?

The quickest way for mass markets to go away and to get away from the union burdens would be a full on bankruptcy at this point.

Q: Just exactly Who would the regulators hold accountable for the previous 20 years of mismanagement of the 4 different entities that make up lumen?

A: no one!

Microsoft if you hadn't noticed is a successful company. Do some research first before opining.

@bx we’re not going bankrupt over night. Mass markets will exist for a couple years. You can’t turn everyone’s dsl and dial tone off. It will happen but give it a little while

The useless board of directors brought her in as change leader. That was her only purpose.
And now she is stacking the board in her favor. Along with bringing all of her microsoft buddies.
It's crazy if you look at her posts on LinkedIn (owned by Microsoft). There is a picture of her and the SLT raising a glass of champagne to 1000 NaaS customers. Like that small amount of customers can sustain the company long term.
She has no clue how to run a company. She needs to go.

It will be after the bankruptcy, once the company is in the process of being dissolved, they ( Microsoft) can buy the fiber long haul assets at fire sale prices!

No one wants the remaining regulated legacy assets.. not even the Lumen board of directors..
