They have to defer programs if layoffs are coming. Can’t support all programs if there is a reduction in salaried headcount. The whole EV is a disaster. I don’t necessarily put all the blame on Ford leadership. Ford is forced to make EVs to make fuel economy mandates coming from the Biden administration. Elections have consequences. FJB!
This delay will allow them to shift production from Oakville to Mexico. EVs are too costly, have to build them with cheap labor.
Model E is going to be dissolved soon. Many people are leaving or transferred to Ford Blue.
Ford should join venture with BYD and build EV in north America. BYD already have the products and the know how.
1gh the 3 row electric was slated for Oakville Canada… and don’t know what happens. The ford press was all rosy that investment to change over the plan and build blue oval is still active…
so what happens to all those employees that got hired in Tennessee?
Well, this explains why my LL4 was asking us for our list of bottom 30% last week. We spent much of last year moving our teams over to the platform for this (and other EV) vehicles, for 2025 release. It doesn’t feel like this extension will be used to increase day one quality. Anyone looking for a software supervisor in infotainment?

No one in Ford upper management ever admits or is held accountable for their poor decisions. The board of directors should also be replaced. The company is doomed.

@bwv What you're missing is that Ford cancelled many programs to make these EV and is now going to idle a plant for 2 years. That's not good.
Many people were worried this was a bad plan and they're turning out to be right.
Hybrids by 2030? That's a long way away. Options today are Escape, Maverick and F-150...starting around $75K).
Too bad Ford shut off the Explorer Hybrid last year, and they got rid of the hybrid Fusion years ago. Great CAR, love mine.
