Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

If you are affected, will you keep your account at Jones?

If you are affected and if you have a Jones account, will you be keeping your money at Jones? I realize most of us are small fish to leadership so it probably wouldn’t even be noticed if I took my money out. I have nothing against my financial advisor but I’m not sure where I would go. Any thoughts?

@bt same. The fees are insane.

I didn't want to move my money here in the first place when I took this job. I almost turned down the job because of it.

There’s no way I’m keeping my hundreds of thousands of dollars that would have built up quite a bit over the next couple of years (thanks to circumstances I hadn’t shared with anyone at work) with this company. They’ve lost a lot of trust in general and no way am I helping contribute to the bottom lines of this leadership team.

I wish nothing but the best to my former colleagues who are wonderful, but part of me is relieved I don’t have to keep pretending everything there is just fine and dandy when the company culture has been degrading for years. So once I figure out what option works best for me, I’ll be taking my money elsewhere.

I took the VSP and leave in May. I plan to move everything I can to Fidelity. If EDJ doesn’t want me here anymore, then they must not want my $2.2M anymore either. BYE BYE!!!!

Depends on if my fees go up and it's less expensive elsewhere. I really like my FA but if it comes down to my money....well....

If I could, I would move my funds out while being here.

@a6 usually it’s a $95 transfer fee per account, but it’s common for the receiving firm to waive those fees. Something to ask when you transfer out.

i really love my home office FA. She said they aren't making us leave and i hit rule of 70. So commission for me is minimal. I'll stay if she does. otherwise.... buh bye.

Better yet, take your account and your advisor with you to a different firm. Enough people do that and someone may notice….

I retired from Jones 3 years ago, but moved all my money to Raymond James. I left one trust account for my LP interest. I don’t regret the move at all. Good luck to everyone at Jones.
