DHS Submits H-1B Weighted Selection Rule for Federal Review: Implications for Employers and Foreign Workers

Sounds pretty excellent if you're an American worker, and a real threat if you're AK.

@d4 deletions come from the layoff.com administrator(s) with input from IBM HR and Alvind.

They like to show visitors to the site that IBM is the best company in the US to work for - nothing could be further from the truth.

They may be cheaper but they are so much worse! This is unbelievable how bad these H1-b can be.

Call me racist if you want! lol!

Vote here once if you believe that Alvind should be taking the trip on the next plane to El-Salvador. Vote twice if you think his lapdog Krapanaugh should be accompanying him as an "oversized, obnoxious, obese carry-on" pet.

You are 100% right. Offshoring is a (the) big problem. Most of them are just cheaper, that's it and that's all. I had very bad experiences with it.

I think that the issue is not the H1B system itself, but how the system has been used and abused over the years. The VAST majority of the visas go to workers coming from a certain nationality, AK's country of origin. Some facts:

  • Over 70%: In recent years (e.g., October 2022 to September 2023), this figure has been over 72% of the visas went to Indians.
  • While the overall annual cap for new H-1B visas is 85,000 (65,000 regular cap + 20,000 for those with a U.S. master's degree or higher), the actual number of approvals is often much higher due to 'exemptions' for certain employers like universities.

So, there isn't much left for foreign citizens trying to come / get hired from any other country.

The US boasts the highest number of Nobel laureates globally, exceeding 420 individuals.
India has a smaller number of Nobel laureates, with 12 recipients (out of which 3 if I remember correctly are Peace and Literature). About the same number as Australia which is a much smaller country (population).

The US is home to the largest number of AI companies globally, with around 12,418 companies as of July 2025. Other sources suggest the number could be around 29,618 in 2024 (AI generated data)

India has a significantly smaller number of AI companies, with approximately 1,324 recorded in July 2025. Another source states a figure of 8,178 for 2024. While the numbers differ across reports, the gap remains substantial (AI generated data)

The H1B system can be good, IF / WHEN used adequately. It's like Medicare and Medicaid. They fail not because of what they can do, but how they ended up being executed, implemented and/or rigged.

We need to go back to a system that allows for more Albert Einsteins to get in (although he came with an "extraordinary talent" visa, not H1B).

H1B abuses need to be curbed, but what really needs to end is offshoring. Wholesale lifting and shifting of entire departments in American companies to India is a national security threat. It should be treated as such and eliminated. If CEOs like AK have a problem with that, they can be on the next plane to El Salvador.

With so much at stake, I predict H1B program is only going to grow, unfortunately; it is a utopia to think it’s going to go away.
Similar to Epstein files that will never be released because there is too much at stake.
Trump made some promises during the elections, just to get elected

H1B program isn’t going anywhere; with the trillions invested into tech stocks by mutual funds and pension funds, and hundreds of millions of lobbyists in Washington DC (paid by big tech) , removing this program would jeopardize the stock market valuation, from which American investors and retirees depend on.
