It's nice to get a dividend check, but I think I may be best off cashing in my Compushare account and move on. Capital gains minimal as the stock hasn't really gone anywhere except for the short post pandemic rally. What are other recent retirees doing?

I had to stop caring in order to cope mentally. If you are an SME with a passion for making smart choices to get the best results, you will live in a constant state of frustration. It's sad. But thanks for the advice on investing. I will be leaving in March - counting the days!!!
@bq At least you guys made it to retirement. Not sure if this will be possible any more
Try the current sandbox of UNCON. This is embarrassing. If you are being micromanaged at least you’re being managed. These people are having the times of their lives while the rest of us try to sort things out hourly to try and work. The more you care the more you choke on it. No one is trying clean up things or simplify. Pathetic.
Yep, it's what I thought. Just give up and move on. Hard to give up what gave us such a good life, but the reality is, it's over.
I took my lump sum and 401k and handed it off to a financial advisor. My initial 2 million has grown to over 5 million after ten years. This is with me taking out 110,000 a year. I am so glad to be out of exxon. They really made it bad for me the last few years. I suspect they wanted to push me out. I stayed till 59 and retired. I told all the slimy ba----ds off before I left. The young supervisors were the worst because they did not have a clue. Retire as soon as you can and belive me you won't regret it.
I definitely cashed out of XOM stock after retiring. Bailed at $110-118/share. Just didn’t see this as a value stock with shifting focus on greenie we---e initiatives that have zero chance of any return. Also loss of skilled personnel replaced with off shore low pay, skill sets and culture is a going to have consequences down the road. Many other places to put your retirement portfolio with better returns. There are a lot of low risk options including treasuries that pay better than XOM.
After 37 years I took the monthly check. Now, every day is a vacation for the rest of my life. Thank you EM.
