Over two years, I’ve seen Cisco let go of incredible teammates, people who always gave their all. Watching that play out, how am I supposed to care anymore? Giving my best feels pointless. I just want out of here and to land somewhere that actually values effort and loyalty.

You leave-that's exactly what I did. Put yourself out there for enough time, and eventually you'll land in a different spot. I want to a partner, and my boss (great guy) messes with me and congratulates me every Feb/September for having a job still lol. It's sad, but the reality of being at Cisco is that you're basically on a 6 month(ish) contract.
I saw the walmart thing too but it was 600K for district managers.
I've seen former corporate people become public school teachers and become much happier. Don't forget they get pensions and summers off.
Just read on LinkedIn that WalMart has increased their store manager salary to $600K/year.
where I live, they are advertising for school bus drivers:
- great benefits
- pension (not 401k)
and realistically they just want people with a clean driving record....none of this "performance review" BS
Yeah Im ready to go drive a school bus or something with job security even with a massive paycut and 30 screaming kids it would be better than this toxic sh-tshow.
Im done with this sh-t show as well .. changing career…
Quit!
I always wonder how people like you even end up at Cisco
I mean, didn't you understand the kind of company you were joining?
Cisco is a PHONE-IT-IN company and can never be anything more
its about getting some money for little effort and commitment
this is why you see so many older workers at Cisco, they already have their house, nest egg, whatever...they just want a maintenance-mode paycheck and some health insurance
but why rush the inevitable? at some point our whacky tech bubble will burst worse than 2000 and once again 75% of tech will be gone and most of us will be pushed out of the industry anyway....might as well take as much $$$$ on the way out
if you think otherwise, Cisco is not for you! I have no idea why a "striver" would ever set foot in the door
The good times are over, and have been since COVID really. It's not just Cisco it's all of tech and even more so the regular economy. Ok if you are at NVIDIA maybe things are good. Or if you are a ruthless sociopath in any tech company the going can still be good. But for regular folks the gravy train ended with inflation and rate rises. We might avoid a 20s like depression but the result is something like Japan. Cheap money has created zombie corporations and a zombie economy where only the large well connected corps survive. There is nothing for innovators anymore. There is no Apple of tomorrow building a dream out of a garage. You have to be connected with access to billions of cheap dollars like Sam Altmann at OpenAI. The future is slavery at big tech. Cisco is terrible but it's not much better anywhere else. Again, look to Japan for the future. This is what a heavy handed interventionalist government and central bank will get you. We won't allow the patient to die and be reborn. We need the patient to continue living half dead on life support. Lost decades await ahead of us. Maybe there's hope in Trump and Elon and DOGE but they'll get voted out by the panicking masses the moment they try to do anything of substance. 50% need to lose their jobs, the stock market needs crashing 70% all that crypto junk needs to die, 90-95% drop and the currency needs to hyperinflated 2,3,4,5 x all in the period of 2-5 years for us to reset and get back to a dynamic america. Companies like Cisco should be broken up and run lean and mean. Not like tech companies but more like no frills manufacturers which is what we really are. We should be making networking gear cheaper and faster and more reliable than the competition. And we need maybe 10k staff to do it. All the DEI and HR people need cutting. All the waste of space BUs not related to core business need cutting. All the H1Bs and offshore support teams need cutting. Just 10k hard working experienced Americans making networking equipment for the world. And this needs to happen across all companies across the entire US economy. We need more homelessness not less. We need to get back to having a job being a privilege in America. We need affordable homes and support for hardworking families. We need to drive degeneracy out of the public sphere.
just quit if you are unhappy, it's not worth living your life in despair. Or just take a g-n and do the alternative
Everyday Get this urge to quit, but scared.
