Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Behavior changes?

Anyone notice any behavior changes in your leadership? The new bosses seem exactly like the old bosses so far. They know how to cut and reorganize, but cannot deliver results on the behavior changes they say are needed.

Blame PMP culture of the last 10-15 years. It gave a clear path to all of the narcissistic sycophants straight up the leadership ladder. I've seen people produce absolutely nothing of substance for the company, but game the PMP system and are now PO's and chapter heads. It will take CVX decades to recover.

I would say that narcissists are the supervisors who discriminate against employees along with harassment and retaliation. Typical Chevron supervisor qualities.

March 12, 2025. Three contractors were injured in a "scaffolding demolition" incident at the Chevron Pasadena refinery. Two of them reportedly fell off a 25-foot scaffold. One contractor was sent to a hospital via Life Flight. The other two were sent in ambulances. It's unclear what caused the scaffolding to collapse. The refinery resumed operations.

Quiet.
Nobody says anything.
I guess they are still figuring it out as it appears there is not too much time to reshuffle everybody in time and make sure mistakes are not happening.
I think they will offer several extended "transition" options as ENGINE is not ready and it won't be ready anytime soon.

You asked "a shift in our safety culture", I think 3 contractors fell off a scaffold last week at the Pasadena refinery near Houston. They fell about 25 feet so they must be injured, I guess the safety culture "shifted" last week....

Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. The Who, Won't Get Fooled Again.

'You’re not seeing change because they’re the same leaders doing what they’ve always done!!!!'

like repackaging a gift which is a giant tu-d

Repackaging gifts involves taking a purchased item and presenting it in a new, often more personalized or themed, packaging to enhance the gift-giving experience.

The Leadership is not going to change because they are old and near retirement and don't want to mess up the $$$ salary they will never get anywhere else. They will ride the Titanic to the bottom, and come up and swim for a beach with a chair and a margarita to enjoy the last miserable years of their lives, while employees with families get kicked out into the street.

Trust me - the "Leadership" aren't leading anything, they are just su-king on the te-t.

“ Has anyone else seen a shift in our safety culture?”…..It’s been going downhill for years. When they are crowing because they only had one fatality in the last year, it’s a sign of concern!

Well everyone this is the new culture, backstabbing, lies, zero trust and each for themselves.
I cannot imagine the leadership being so dim that this is not the intent.
I am very concerned that the unintended consequences is a major disaster in the field, as everyone is so distracted and the lack of real leadership and accountability.
Has anyone else seen a shift in our safety culture?

Haven’t noticed any changes in behavior from my supervisor, because he has completely abandoned me. I guess he knows what’s coming and I’m no longer worth his time.

@ar+1jpejt4g5, yes, it’s going to be a massacre. Asking people to focus on their talent cards is a bit like asking people to calmly walk to the lifeboats after the Titanic has hit the iceberg … reassuring, but ultimately pointless for the majority.

The only authentic interaction I’ve had with them behind closed doors they were scared about the extent of the cuts and how fast it will move once it starts

Between the layoffs and ENGINE, the conversations seem very inauthentic and censored. They know things you can't be allowed to know and it makes them untrustworthy. I generally have liked my bosses too, and still do, but they don't have our best interests in mind at this time. It's all about Chevron now.
