Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco diversity is questionable

My manager is Indian, my skip? Indian, my skip's manager? you guessed it, Also Indian.

My team? half of it is in India, and the other half? Indian team mates, except for some hiring errors I guess.

I am not racist, but man do I miss the times when my team had people from all different cultures and we could actually have fun together, now I feel like an outlier who should just leave, which I am planning to do anyway.

diversity means someone other then a white male. so they ended up replacing the white male with a white female but realized we are focusing too much on white so then they hired someone with the gender identity. that also didn’t seem right so then it was the turn of the black male and female. afterwards the brown folk also got their chance. then they realized we need to roll all this back because politics and business shouldnt be mixed. now we will see the rise of the white male again with busloads from india h1bs. we really have come full circle.
if j2 becomes ceo expect to see this more. ciao

diversity of culture/gender/etc is d-mb. diversity of thought, problem solving, creativity, & solutions is what's needed.

assuming that diversity of culture/etc automatically results in diversity of thought is, by its nature, one or more of the 'ists'

If you are not apart of the tribe, the best thing you can do as an outsider is take a gigantic, steaming dump for your manager and perhaps their boss as well. Show them you are willing to leave an enormous two piece the right way and for the right reason.

Give them a nice showing and some thing sweet to smile about. The work at Cisco doesn’t matter, so you produce a deuce.

A former counterpart did this exact thing and held it for as long as the could for about two days and left one of their best for their Bangalore boons..and guess what? IPF rose and they were bumped a grade. To celebrate, all three took part in a wild dump sesh and his chain of commander absolutely loved him after that. Get creative and dam execute. Even if it means leaving a steaming pile of dung for your management to consume!

@bd they are taken advantage of. they should just force companies to sponsor green card /citizenship at max 3 years after h1b hire. once they realize they can't exploit them for n+ years they will stop. fairer to the h1b's. usa should not allow this indentured servitude.

@ds Sales is usually a lot of family members and CSAP kids out of school that have no real sales skills except asking for updates and delegating tasks. Had a counterpart work with a sales managers kid and it was a joke they were even brought in.

Three Indians, all holding H-1B visas, were denied entry into the United States and had their visas revoked by US authorities. These individuals stayed in India beyond the permitted period. One of the workers remained in India for nearly three months, while others had overstayed for more than three months. The Indian nationals were instructed to board the flight back home despite having emergency proof justifying their overstay and letters issued by their employers supporting it.

H1B was originally meant to address hiring gaps where Americans don’t have the expertise required, but immigrants do. H1B has no place in tech because computer science is among the most popular majors in American higher education. And we aren’t importing people on H1B for tech jobs because they’re better at these jobs. We import them because corporations know they can underpay and overwork these guys. Then these guys come here and are smug about their jobs where they work 60-hour-work weeks and are one layoff away from being deported. Really sad sh-t. Ending H1B abuse is an extremely popular political topic, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes a reality within the next decade.

Cisco is pulling an IBM...moving the workforce to majority Indian over time, not trying to be that quiet about it but also not broadcasting it

over time, Cisco will compete with IBM for the same type of customers - slow-moving governmental agencies and dinosaur companies who want to checkbox stuff like security software at the lowest cost

so if you are a white guy in the US, you can't stop the train, you might as well just exploit it (understanding that by moving to an exploitation mindset, you also accelerate the process that will eventually eliminate your position)
