Thread regarding Ford layoffs

For about 8k of us, today is the the last July 4th that will be employed at Ford

With roughly ~8k layoffs incoming by summer's end, today is the last 4th of July many of us will be employed here. Ironically, many of us that hate the idea of 4 days a week in the office won't ever have to RTO.

We don't know exactly when but we do know it will happen by September 1st. Of course, they're hoping a lot will quit over the RTO, but it's clear that the big one will coincide with this RTO.

So enjoy your hotdog and s'more and forget about all of this until tomorrow.

Happy Birthday America!

@nv it’s the group that tries to sell subscriptions to mirrors and door locks.

@np what is "Integrated Services Digital Product"? It sounds like a useless organization with no relation to car manufacturing.

@mj you mean LL4. LL5s are on the list too.

@ba Ford Management does not like the lack of control with voluntaries.
They also lack the ability to discern which employees they should retain.

If you want a voluntary offer then just engineer an involuntary

  • annoy the LL5 make it so they don’t want you as an employee. The LL5 will put your name on the list and think they are “getting you”. While you laugh cuz you got what you wanted.

If you think you will get an involuntary by loafing you are sadly mistaken you have to tick off the leadership. Send the LL5 missive emails; complain about the company and other employees to the LL5

@ha three months of “employee pricing for all” was a pretty big indicator.

They already laid off 1000+. The media mentioned 350 which was a big lie from Ford propaganda media.

I tend to think of Ford as a VISA mill. H1-b come in, and they leave as permanent residents. H1-b join other H1-b in groups where the skills and objectives are not aligned within the group, and the group objectives are not aligned with the business. The management style harkens back to when the Fords’ managed plantations in Ireland. It is a hard place to work if you aspire and do meaningful work.

Usually when Ford cuts prices to maintain sales and begins to layoff employees I take it to be a sign a cyclical recession has started and I should take defensive positions with my investments. This time it is not so clear, the sc--wup with the electric car is so big, it may be clouding the picture.

I would love to see Ford cuts 10% of the work force. I can assure you that the company will be just fine.

Would be nice to do voluntary offers first but doesn't seem like it anymore. Celebrate the 4th and some wonderful memories with you all. All the best dear friends! I sure hope it's not too brutal.

If that is the case, why push 3 days per week RTO until Sept 1?

I hope that you all will leave Ford. Not a good place for you anyway.
