Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Don't think performance will save you

Performance isn’t the deciding factor here, visibility is. This is true for both layoffs and promotions. The folks who are safe and who get ahead know the right people, not necessarily the job best. It’s discouraging when solid work gets ignored while office politics drive cuts and promotions.

When I said 6 paychecks left a couple weeks ago, nobody believed me. Now you believe.

It literally cannot be performance based. They’ll get sued just like they did last time they did performance based layoffs. Performance at the end of the day is subjective.

You’re being graded based on communication, problem solving, time management and how you generally interact with colleagues.

Striving to perform at your highest ability gives meaning to the work, and can make the job more enjoyable than sitting in the cafe for hours at a time, surfing the internet.

It's like comparing a good workout to sitting around eating pizza. Everyone likes pizza, because it is pizza, but it is possible to eat too much of it.

It appears that those being laid off for performance will either get no separation package or will get something less than those laid off for business reasons. This is from a high level admin and is why some news outlets are reporting (in error) that there will be no packages. It is also group specific, as the company is allowing each group to make the decision.

So if for no other reason, think about bringing whatever you can to the work, because it might keep you employed.

@ba shut up about dei already you disgusting incompetent clown. Try direct your anger towards your real adversaries instead of taking it on you brothers and sisters. But I guess quitting being a bootlicker is hard.

Performance stopped mattering long ago..... Since DEI started to be at the forefront of HR policies.

It was never a performance.

It was always personal, political and if you weren't that well liked you got stabbed in the back.
