Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Don’t Believe Your Manager

They know what’s about to happen and are lying through their teeth while smiling at you when they say they don’t.

G11/12+ already reshuffled things to safeguard their own groups—long before anyone else knew what was happening.

if your daily goal at work is to over acheive and help the company grow then at this point you should be confident in yourself and not be in fear of being let go. its not that hard. attitude and good work ethics are everything.

last round of layoffs 100% centered around gender, skin color, and ability to speak English coherently. Zero doubts this round will be exactly the same.

I was laid off last November. My manager's behavior changed three weeks before and I knew he was lying to my face.

This really depends, but at this point, it's just a number target. If you got a G8/G9 manager, they are likely clueless. A well connected G10/G11 or VP (TA, Roadmap, Product, Strat Planning Director/GM) might know if they are on CVP staff or higher since they are in the "need to know" category. The reality is that EVP GMs will get handed down targets to meet while keeping core-products intact, and it's up to them to decide how to meet the goal. Given LBT wants to be more engineering focused, the biggest/disproportional cuts will come from non-engineering teams, and teams not aligned to PCs, Servers, and AI. At the end of the day, fewer products = fewer people.

If they want the company to recover they will first lay off HR. Given that they're not ditching MJ, my guess is they're about to double down on stupid.

If they keep around the HR ladies, we may as well just sell the company for parts now and get it over with.

Intel is the epitome of go woke, go broke.

Writing this as a current manager. We are equally clueless on what is coming or how it is administered. G12 and higher may know something more. We do not.

This time even managers themselves aren't safe. They are on the chopping block too.

Managers know nothing - coming as an ex manager . This cr-p roles down hill with little thought or consultation, the managers are message delivers , not decision makers … it’s very sad to be part of.

Good luck everyone , this is gonna be brutal !

@a9... they will see this starting next Monday. It is going to get real quiet around the office while everyone tries to look busy. I would suspect that the list of people effected has probably been finalized and approved in the past few weeks. If it is like 2016, the offices of those walked out will be cleaned out during the night following their dismissal and it will look like a brand new office. Drawers and cabinets emptied, the desktop cleared and cleaned, the whiteboard wiped clean, and the chair neatly pushed in. Good luck.

It matters because it tells you the real kind of person they are. The type of human being they are.

Most managers do not have a clue yet on what’s happening with there direct reports. They will know how many people they need to cut on Tuesday. On Wednesday they will be doing skills assessments to determine who stays or go’s. It will happen fast this time. Good luck all.

The managers know. Our last layoff, two of the under performers on our team were let go. Only the manager would know who the under performers were, the director wouldn't know that information.

@a7+1 Say what you will about BK, the dude knew how to fire.

You haven't seen layoffs till there are people being perp-walked out the front door and others crying in the halls.

Gives LBT something to aspire towards.

Don't believe anyone. Figure it out for yourself. Anyone else will give you bad information so they can win the game.

Not necessarily, in 2016 it was only known to the director level and even that level couldn't do anything about it.

Managers knows as much as anyone else at this time, this was writing on wall for sometime , you should have either left or stayed hoping your job will be fine ..

Be carful what you wish for when tying your wagon to the corporate money class. Poor id--t managers. They will never look in the mirror with respect again. I hope their conscience never allows a full nights sleep.

100% they are primarily cutting engineers and techs. The woke Portland board is in charge, if you are straight, white, or male you are gone. The board put a CCP agent in as Ceo
