Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

what to do?

I'm on vacation for the next 2 weeks, but I got an email from my boss's boss asking me to cut it short and come into office by July 7th. I'm kicking myself for even checking my email, but old habits die hard! Should I just ignore it? Or do I come back by July 7th for the inevitable kick to the curb?

Go to your doctor and tell them you are stressed to the max, you have a racing heart, have not slept in weeks. Have them put you out on leave. Come back in 3-4 months and all will be good at Intel. They will have so many holes from laying off too many people that you will have your pick of a nice job.

@a2 I know a manager who called a person on sabbatical to inform them they were being laid off. The person was on a golf course at the time. The manager was in violation, but id--ts are still id--ts.

@b5 Why? They will pay it out. If you use it and stay, you have know time left. If you din’t use it and get laid off, you have time and the money.

@a2 I saw cases where a manager asks to attend a meeting in the middle of vacation only to inform about layoff

Your vacation is fu---d any way because you are now thinking about this and will not be able to let go. Just cut it short and head back.

The last few cycles, they didn’t notify the person until the day they came back. And a lot of people, as soon as they got notice, went to their doctor and said the stress was too much, and ended up taking a LOA for the last 4 weeks they were supposed to work and train the person taking on their responsibilities.

Use your PTO before layoffs, cutting vacation short won't save your job

@OP just tell your boss you get detained by ICE.

I beleive you, specially in design teams they can cut your vacations short. Just ignore it, your coverage should do the work.

Did your manager not approve your holiday before you took off? If he already has, continue your break and ignore. Otherwise, you probably should head back as requested.

Lotta people out there hate Intel. Think of all the people who were fired the past few years. Many bitter and want to see Intel fail. If they moved on to a better job where they felt satisfied and fulfilled, they would never waste time fake posting on here. Only a sad loser would do that.

The Hypothetical Situation Troll was just testing everyone's knowledge of corporate policies.

@a6 how they can tell if the email has been read or not?

Follow your instinct, but they can tell if you read the email. Not sure ignoring it is an option.

Could be you are being let go OR your team or boss will be impacted and they need people to cover impacted employees. I would ask why they want you to cut your approved leave and if rejoining from 7th July works ? Lay-offs are slated for 7th July and if you are unfortunately impacted you want to make sure things go smoothly. Good luck.

I worked at Intel almost 20 years. Seen multiple layoffs; people were on vacation/sabbatical/MLOA, they do not ask someone to cut their time short and come in by or on a certain date.

People are worried about losing their job and you're posting trash. Troll elsewhere clown.
