What kind of computer do you use and what chip does it have. Are you planning to upgrade soon.
I personally have a MacBook Pro with M1 chip.

I recall my first "portable" from Columbia Data. About the size of a small suitcase. I was so cool
I bought an Intel 14900k a year ago, finally upgrading my CPU for the first time in like 10 years… and I’ve had to RMA the stupid thing twice already. It’s been a total headache and I’m pi---d I even got one, even with the 50% discount for being an employee.
One of the RMAs happened at the start of December and I didn’t get a replacement until mid/late-January. Total joke and I’ll never buy an Intel chip again
Timex Sinclair 1000.
Or a trash-80 if I'm feelin sporty.
Geekbench 6 scores
iPhone 16 - 3436
Intel 14900 - 3065
AMD 9950x3d- 3403
Apple M4 - 3790
Apple M4max - 3913
So the iphone beats the x86 desktops.
Apple’s laptops are even faster still and more power efficient.
It’s kind of embarrassing at this point for Intel.
My computers
iPhone 16 pro max
iPad Pro m4
MacBook Pro m4 max
MacBook Air 15 m2
@b3 but I guarantee that you have a smartphone. Which puts dollars into TSMC and not Intel.
Sorry if you’re too slow to understand that.
Every Intel computer at work has died at some point. Nobody likes their intel laptop at work, I keep my desktop Thinkstation at work and never upgrade because it's the most stable so far. At home I have AMD Ryzen Laptop.
my 7th gen Intel cpu+nvidia computer has an easy life. amd + apple can su-k my b---s. team blue mf-ers!
Apple iPhone and Samsung smartphone for everything
@b3: ah but I suspect you’re helping make OP’s point anyway, that “I’m rooting for an Intel turn-around but I’m buying AMD/TSMC” is true of Intel Employees too.
Go enjoy a parade and some fireworks. That’s the patriotism that matters.
@an
Untrue, I just upgraded an older Gigabyte i7 12700h with an Asus Vivobook Ryzen AI 9 370HX. The power usage vs the Alderlake makes a huge difference. Power usage on a Debian system blows Window's performance and power out of the water. I can't do anything really useful video/photo editing on a cr-ppy little iPhone.
16 GB should be minimum RAM. Right now windows 11 uses seven gigs of RAM just to run windows and an antivirus product.
Why post this on a layoff board? And who really cares what computer random period use.
Everybody’s main computer is either an iPhone or an android phone.
That’s the real reason Intel finds itself in the position it’s in now.
MacBook Air M1 cpu
Intel of course. Duh.
I bought the great patriotic NUC —- be Intel buy Intel. A 1240p. I didn’t even need a NUC (though I have found uses for it)
Then we canceled the NUC’s
Raptor Lake with ARC 770 (2022)
Mac Laptop with Ice Lake (2020)
Kaby Lake (2017)
I've been wanting to update 2 of these computers for a long time. I used to buy computers with my employee bonus $$$.
coffee lake but I keep lusting after 3D VCache. Then again the coffee lake doesn’t feel slow….
Can anybody tell me why I should get an AIPC? I use copilot frequently. It seems to work ok on coffee lake.
mbp w/ m4. amd for gaming pc. I get money from this company, not the other way around
Before the turnaround happens, I will not buy any computers with Intel inside.
I haven't had time but I was planning to build a gaming PC for my son with an Intel chip from Employee Purchase Program. Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF
At home? AMD Ryzen desktop.
At work? HP Crapbook with 8GB ram and 240GB ssd.
