I only know of one person though heard there were others. Anyone have scoop?

Laying off 50 triggers a WARN notice only if the site is closed.
Laying off 500, or 33%, triggers WARN only if they all work at the same site.
A company can lay off hundreds without triggering WARN, if they work at different sites.
I think if it's over 50 people a WARN notice has to be filed with the State correct?
Any more updates? What's the total number of layoff? 100? Over 100?
Aware of 1 person let go in EDU
There’s a reason why salary adjustment notifications were delayed until April, whereas in recent years they were communicated at the same time as bonuses in early March. Receive your bonus for the prior year efforts and then get laid off before the salary adjustment notification.
I heard the rumor that 70+ people were let go. Primarily around finance.
"It sounds like dozens of people were cut, at least."
And they were all personal hits.
Wish we could get back on topic. But nobody seems to know any hard numbers.
It sounds like dozens of people were cut, at least. But SAS has kept it quiet; there is not one word in the media.
What is the Salls' Christmas party like? Is there live music? Does it include "Tea with Santa" at The Umstead?
"That’s an argument to cut all departments, not specifically JMP."
That sounds fair. "Cut all departments" including protected areas such as the Art Department and JMP!
@10f+1jqc5vwrc
Did you apply for a job in JMP you didn't get or something, divorce someone who works in JMP, or get kicked out of the Sall's Christmas party? "JMP's parasitic existence"? That's a thing because the two guys who own the company made it that way. Obviously, they're okay with it. Why all the hate?
“All departments have fat.”
That’s an argument to cut all departments, not specifically JMP.
“…JMP's parasitic existence…”
JMP uses SAS facilities — as do all SAS products. Are they all parasites?
“None of this will prevent a nonsensical analysis of product profitability based on worthless data.”
Agreed, the data are bad; but some products are clearly doing better than others.
Friends on Risk, Fraud, and JMP know that their product does well. Friends on Retail were sad to be laid off, but not shocked; they knew they were not profitable.
We can hope for an approximate analysis from bad data.
"Have you ever made a rational argument why anyone should get laid off from JMP?"
It is a given that all departments have fat.
Not that person, but here is an idea. Completely sever JMP's parasitic existence from SAS and have JMP abide by GAAP on a completely separate accounting system. At that point, JMP is FULLY paying 100% of their expenses. That is what it will take to determine whether or not JMP makes any profit. The question is not whether headcount should be reduced in JMP. The question is how much and the how much can not be accurately determined until JMP is 100% paying their own expenses.
Status quo has long list of parasitic items(where JMP enjoys a subsidy or a free ride) to accurately determine profitability. Questioning this is the initial avenue towards better transparency. Questioning is always good. When questions are discouraged, it is human nature to suspect that something is off kilter.
“ None of this will prevent a nonsensical analysis of product profitability based on worthless data, though.”
The people on this site are experts at coming to conclusions from worthless “data”.
“…determine the relative profitability of all R&D products…”
I’ve seen the sales data (granted, I retired in 2021 but I seriously doubt there’s been an overhaul in accounting) and it has never supported a product-by-product accounting. Salespeople are (were) free to allocate the gross revenue from bundled sales across the products sold in any way they see fit. I proposed an easy way to put boundaries on the allocation process and others probably have done so also. It was never adopted. Even if something has been done to rein in the allocation among products, then SAS has at best three years of non-garbage sales data.
None of this will prevent a nonsensical analysis of product profitability based on worthless data, though.
Maybe "outside help" is outsourced Sales help?
Have you ever made a rational argument why anyone should get laid off from JMP?
We all know of loser products that make little money. But we've not heard of layoffs last week on any product in R&D.
“Outside help” hired to “cut costs” could make a list, determine the relative profitability of all R&D products, and cut staff from those less profitable. Perhaps that is yet to come.
Has there ever been a blurb on this site about anyone getting laid off from JMP?
Apparently, this round of layoffs has not affected R&D at all.
"Is JMP still safe?"
Never any mention of JMP headcount reductions so draw your own conclusions.
Trumped up charges.
“ Four people in IT.”
Which team(s)?
Is JMP still safe?
Four people in IT.
Layoffs in sales - mostly managers with few AE's reporting into them.
That's sad news. On the bright side, the Art Department, which is safe, remains so.
I can do little but confirm. I heard similar stories from a different source.
I was told that these layoffs are across multiple departments, in significant numbers.
If true, the timing of the layoffs may increase the number of people taking the buyout.
This is, to say the least, a tough situation. Good luck to all.
"Customer Advisory hit with a huge cut"....can you provide more details? How many people? Where? US? Other countries?
Please get back on track. Does anyone have more info about who was laid off?
@fw+1jqc5vwrc
Or, you know, it could be the other thing: they're the person they really are online and at work. Or it could be the other way around, they can't be the person they really are at work, but they can online, like our friend Company Man. So not exactly pleasant to work with, but smart enough to know they can't be a total biter and tell everyone all about their Trump bucks or they'll get a call from HR. If you know, you know. There are plenty of high-functioning autists at SAS, je-ks, and managers and so on who actually believe they're that guy because they're really that guy and not just another desperate crab trying to climb the other cr--s to escape the crab pot.
“ SAS has some real aholes in it.”
Yep. I bet most of the ja----s doom and gloom responses on here are people who are super pleasant and never say anything negative at work. Hiding their true selfs from others.
Does anyone know the body count?
SAS has some real aholes in it.
@b1+1jqc5vwrc - thanks Captain Obvious.
1 person isn't "layoffs"
Customer Advisory hit with a huge cut
Interested to know more about losses in sales and pre-sales. Which countries? How many?
I heard of one, possibly others, in professional services. The one I heard of was 40 something I'd guess.
40 something.
Also just heard that sales and pre-sales also hit.
How old is the person that you know that got the layoff in IT?
