I’m certain there will be exceptions for corporate departments who have operated primarily remote.

@d1 You're absolutely right about that. Lazy as lazy gets.

All of this is hearsay. No policy has been established yet.

DO NOT QUIT if you have a good severance package. Directors and above get 16 weeks/4 months of your salary. VP and SVP can get up to 52 weeks!

the problem is that there is a fair share of folks mailing it in, and their managers have no desire/incentive to call them on it. Remote situation makes things work because the lazy are less accountablle to be in person/available. So many folks I know sit on things for weeks and then finallly respond just a day before their vacation with more questions than answers. this is not how business is done...

i agree that at least days 4 a week is coming, but as folks pointed out, we dont have the room. a tiny company like skydance still needs to figure out how to make it work. i think they will try to make it happen where it makes sense and then eventually can the folks they can't accommodate. it would make sense to first do all the firing (or at least one level) and then figure the rest out.

@as I know for my division that all fully remote workers were let go during the last batch of layoffs. We lost more than half our team and now struggling with the workload.

What is the maximum time typically allowed for an RTO? Anybody?

@ay I would talk to your management first. I am not going to force anyone in.

Should I even bother going to HR with a doctor's note to get out of RTO? or would that put me in the crosshairs? seems like an ADA violation but California is at-will. I have a legitimate disability that makes RTO pure HE-L

@as They have not made a decision on remote workers yet.

its rumour but someone on my team fully remote- never an office and out of state was told that it would be a case by case basis for those employees
under GC
so they are concerned ...

I would stay and come in every day if need be, as long as there's an office to come into. My teammates span from 1515 to Gower St to Nashville offices. I hope all 3 stay put.

What about employees who are fully remote? (As in the live in a state where they are not near a corporate headquarters). I’ve see comments that all fully remote workers will be let go during September layoffs, but not sure how true that is. Some of who have been remote even before the pandemic

Won’t be impossible to enforce if they track badge taps like other RTO companies.

@ap announced after Labor Day, when is the deadline to get into the office? Some of us moved far away from the office. Will there be given time to relocate?

@ad you are replying to a post that says it’s all hearsay at the moment and you have said they are wrong and then said you heard it from your svp and posted it. That is the literal definition of hearsay.

it's like Hunger Games with finding a seat sometimes. I guess some of us will sit in the Lunch Room or phone rooms...

would you share what division marketing ? asking bc LA office space is non existent - you have to check out space and even then it wouldn't be enough .. unless they are leasing a new building .. i've heard there's no room left at the lot either is this under GC

@ad that’s great! Post the email showing that it is company wide and from the new management and the date it’s starting. Otherwise, I will go with my comment it’s all hearsay but plausible.

I just care about being employed at this point, regardless of RTO requirements.

@a9 at least they are starting in January. Guess have to start planning

Yes, and it will start in January. Clearly they want people to quit so they don't have to pay severance.

@a7 we did 5 days a week before 2020. You do appreciate that by them mandating 4-5 days a week they will get people resigning and not have to pay them off. It’s a win win for the company, not us.

@a6 most people are 1x a week now, and in the summer it’s even less than that. All we do is go on zooms in conference rooms talking to folks in LA. There’s tons of commuters now vs period to 2020. Peoples priorities have shifted and commute culture is over. If they want to be a media powerhouse they have to get with the times.

@a5 why you say impossible?

by

That’s going to be impossible to enforce. I’m skeptical it’ll happen.

There is a thread about this. Look down the page.

There is no confirmed return to office. So the 4 or 5 days are all hearsay at the moment. But both are plausible. It will all come out in the coming weeks.
