@281 Yes so many great people gone! And teams are already struggling. He-l maybe I will ask my church to pass around a collection plate so we can buy BET. Now we may only be able to come up with a few hundred thousand, but at this point they better take what they can get!

@2a0 Norbit was Brian Wilson's favorite movie, to be fair.

It doesn’t help that the current bet ceo has always been a corporate guy with no creative experience. Sure some ceos can make up for it by picking established creative folks to lead but that hasn’t been the pattern at Viacom. McCarthy cheeks no creative. Robbins directed norbit and still thinks good burger and Keenan are something people care about because he was involved in them. The industry laughs at us except when we pay them. I don’t know that it will change with new ownership but at least they’ll be younger and have more money. Shari was really incompetent as were sumners last few ceos. Sumner at least had an excuse with his old age. All those stock buybacks instead of buying marvel or Lucas. Just a waste. Glad I didn’t own stock.

@27d oh well that's what they get. They should have never passed up on the offers received. Since my time here executives have been in and out the door. These people really don't know what's going on but somehow they think they are Visionaries that are going to change BET's poor performance, quality, and reputation.

From Simone, Jason to now Orchard for digital, none of them truly know what they are doing, they were just going with the flow and relying on the same people to show them the lay of the land. Orchard does not even have a TV background 🤔. So how can you expect different results and growth when you are relying on the same people to give you ideas. Someone said when Orchard first came she had a zoom meeting with people in digital, editorial, brand, and social and she only introduced the departments heads to the new people and said they are the " important people" but what about the people under them? That type of mentality is what hurts the brand, because again you are just relying on the same people who are failing BET over and over again.

Then with marketing the new Kim came in and tried. I actually liked her, but she was canned too. Such a mistake!

Also why would they get rid of most of people in the talent department? They were already short staff. Digital was too.
Now it I believe it's just full of contractors.

Then they gutted the scripted & BET+ department which was also running on its last legs and they got rid of half of the original programming team.

And don't get me started on the Social = Slowcial team lol. They are a joke only half of them do their job and they can't answer an email in a timely manner to save their life, unless they think you are important and they come up with social plans that put the company 10 years behind.

Sorry not sorry to say it but BET has run it course.

@1c6 you’re right. Just shows the dysfunction. Also they could’ve sold showtime for 3b and just sat on it. Incompetent leadership. Thank you shar I and senile sumner

Should have taken the $1B ($2B?) bid from last year and sold the BET brand. But nope, greed got in the way and now there's nothing left.

Yeah this brand it not doing well. This was the lowest rating for the BET awards. It's time to wrap it up. And the same people are making the decisions for network. Maybe it's time for CEO to go.
