EMHC vs WFH

I sit in my dirty cubicle in my EMHC neighborhood on Zoom calls each day wondering why I am required to work from campus. No one is talking to each other or collaborating. The promised personal lockable cubby is nowhere to be found so my backpack is overflowing and reference material I need to work effectively is not readily available. On the plus side when I am PIPd it will be easy to just walk out and leave.

Supervisors and Managers doing what they do by walking around and physically locating you. Can't do that if you're at home.

@aty+1ry4dhxl - With that attitude you the reason why EM is continuing to lose talent. People who post about WFH gets the most hate on this site. In what world do you think it's healthy for people to be in each other faces as much as EM wants? Yeah that method may have worked in Standard Oil days but 2024 isn't that. Society is different as a whole. EM incorporating a 2 day WFH option would vastly improve the culture but of course that doesn't align with PDS. In addition, most of the meetings are via ZOOM....................?????? You know? Nothing like sitting in ZOOM meetings in Mr Roger's neighborhood.....OH YEAH, your neighbor in the same ZOOM meeting.

EM harps about innovation but runs the company likes it's 1940. While I agree old school mentalities are needed, so is innovation. Let's call it a healthy mix. There's no reason for people to be on campus a vast majority of the time unless your job truly needs it or the individual wants to be on campus. The same reason why EM does not need a multi billion $$ campus. Continuing to put the same old school minded people in leadership will only work for so long.

By "old school" in this context, I'm referring to those who don't like change. There are some great "old school" people left on campus, but many were PIP'd, sent away with an entity sale or forced to retire. To be honest (overall), the good ones get done the worse while nepotism gets outstanding with distinction....ha.

There are staff in Houston that work from home two or three days per week. Ask your manager how many employees routinely work from home.

What is even more pathetic is to see how many people are on their phone doing nothing.

Nobody is doing any useful work. Darren is right, fire everybody.

Hotdesking was just an excuse to get everyone to pack up their offices and reduce to having only what they carried in each day.

Streamlining the immediate exit when PIPing.

Our floor contains the exact same number of personnel now as it held before Hotdesking.

Only difference was that previously we sat in offices with many empty cubicles and now we sit in the cubicles with all the offices empty.

Although management has its talking points, everyone hates the whole neighborhood concept. There is nothing encouraging about stacking people up in back to back seats with zero privacy or the ability to focus on work.
