Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

When?

We all know more is coming. But my main issue is when? I'm tired of being stuck stressing over the possibility of layoffs happening at any moment 24/7. Let's get it over with already! I'd rather be laid off and knowing than whatever this is right now. Is that too much to ask for?

@ea this right here is one of the root causes of TRPs continued downfall. Senior leaders are all “yes” men/women. They only care about how they show up and how their teams are perceived. Every organization has some of this but it’s a systemic issue here at TRP now. Coming from a 20 year vet at this firm.

@ea Who or what department said that?

@ea "feelings are valid, but we have work to do so be positive going forward. Don't worry who is going to do the work (left behind by those fired), and just look like your happy."

  • Which department said this?

@ea "feelings are valid, but we have work to do so be positive going forward. Don't worry who is going to do the work (left behind by those fired), and just look like your happy."

Another way of saying "The beatings will continue til morale improves."

It's Layoff Thursday - good luck to all.

On July 23, 2025, my team was instructed by management to have a better attitude abt the layoffs last week [4 bus days ago]. I quote "feelings are valid, but we have work to do so be positive going forward. Don't worry who is going to do the work (left behind by those fired), and just look like your happy."

@at thank you for the kind words. And sorry to you and all the others who are going through the same as well. I think many of us have similar thoughts and fears. The thought of losing my home is the biggest one constantly dwelling on my mind to the point I would do anything for this to stop.
I’ve been in therapy for the longest time now. Always struggled with severe depression and anxiety, but my therapist has helped me feel better a little bit, even now through all this. I’m terrified of losing my insurance and not being able to see her anymore though. I feel like everything can crumble and I have no say in the matter. Home, social contact, everything.
Despite this all, I really did like T Rowe. People were nice and made me feel like I was actually somebody. This was the first real job where people acted like I was valued, like what I said mattered, and gave me the chance to be someone I didn’t think I could be. Whole life I thought I was a loser who could never hold a real job or do anything that mattered. I just don’t know how I’ll see myself after this.

Wish you and everyone else all the best. I don’t have deep thoughts on who’s to blame or what’s wrong to necessitate all this, but do pray it’s over soon and somehow everyone of us might make it out okay, whatever that means in the end.

@as Yep - I am seeing a professional because of the stress. If I lose this job I lose my house. Credit rating to zippo. Will never retire at any good level. And I am no spring chicken. The hardest part is no matter what I do - no matter how hard I work or come into the office, it won't matter. In the case of IT people, we are basically being punished for living in Baltimore and not the Philippines. And they have the nerve to present this place as a "great Baltimore Company". It is a joke. The Service Desk in particular is such a unique role a few weeks of training won't make them into the people doing those jobs now. They constantly take on new work to lessen the load for other teams beyond their core responsibilities. They are always professional and helpful - even now training their replacements. Imagine how tough that has to be.

Please take care of yourself. Force yourself to take a walk in nature. Connect with friends. Use Employee Assistance if you don't have a therapist of your own. And know that you are not alone. Coming here and reading other people's experience has been very helpful to me too. This isn't about just job cuts - this is about people's security and dreams. Dreams of retirement. Dreams of sending their kids to college. There are stories out there of people thinking a layoff is the end of the world, but they somehow end up on their feet and happier than they were at their old job. This company is not the storied place it used to be. At least those fired won't be working for people that have no regard for them and no vision for the future. Take care.

I wish they would hurry up or make some announcement. I haven’t slept much for the past few weeks and am losing weight from appetite loss. Can’t eat, can’t stop thinking. Anxiety is through the roof right now and feel my mental state is the worst it’s been in years. Everyday at 4 my body shakes horribly out of control in dread and te---r I’m going to get an email.

@a5 you worded it exactly. And what do they expect this to do to the morale of those who are left? Knowing this is how little management cares about or values employees? Unless they don't care because the end game is to get rid of us all...I continue to be stunned. Looking back its been a slow march towards this culture, I was just stuck thinking things would go back to when it was an employee supportive company.

@OP They feel for us what the ranch farmer feels when he loads his cattle onto the truck to the processing plant. It is obvious by the way this is being handled. I get companies have to do this, but they normally have a thoughtful reorg and then one announcement, and then everyone can get back to work who remains. I can't believe they are opting to send jobs overseas and give access to foreigners who they have little control over. I always exhaust all self-help methods before I call the Help Desk, and I suspect now when I call the person will be hard to understand and just going through the same knowledge docs I already tried...and the Philippines has a relationship with China.

I am with you. who ever is running this clearly has no regard for any of the employees. They MUST know there are leaks and this stuff causes stress.
