Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford EV Sales Number YTD

Mustang Mach-E: The only Ford EV model with increased sales, up 11% year-over-year.
F-150 Lightning: Sales plummeted by 42% in May, with only 1,902 units sold.
E-Transit: Sales experienced a dramatic 97% drop, with just 97 units sold.
Year-to-Date EV Sales: 34,132 units, down 8.3% compared to the same period in 2024.

In order to break even, Ford must sell 100,000 units of each type per year. This is the reason why Ford loses $1 billion each quarter for making EV.

I really want to get an F-150 Lightning but my status in society puts it out of my reach. The cost to the company is high, and the cost to the customer is higher. Went to a dealer to see if I could get a deal on one sitting for almost 6 months on the lot and they told me to be man and overpay, the Lightnings are flying off the lot. Completely delusional.

We won’t be close to having produced the first million in 2026, and will be closing a battery plant or two.

@ar Jim Farley said Ford will be making 2 millions EV per year by 2026. Ford still have 7 months to go till 2026. There is a chance.
