Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Fidelity FT RTO

Been applying to a few jobs at Fidelity down the street. Heard from a friend today that they’re mandating a 5 day RTO in September. Previously, they were 1 week in one week out (in office every other week). I don’t believe they have wfh weeks either

Been looking to get out of Schwab for a while… Now, idk. The change seems like an extreme jump from the previous policy.

For the love of god, Schwab, please leave RTO as it is. 4 days su-ks, but I’ll take it over 5.

If RTO is your greatest concern, consider yourself lucky. Most folks here are more worried about being laid off, or just fired for manufactured, pretextual reasons they can't comprehend.

They may as well just make it 7 because most stopped at 3.

Honestly, it’s a smart move to stay put. I’ve had a few buddies bail on Fidelity recently, long before this RTO news even hit the wires, just because the culture wasn't scaling. It sounds like they’re pivoting back to a 1990s management style while the rest of the world is trying to optimize for the future. If the vibes were already off pre-mandate, a 5-day grind is just going to accelerate the churn.

@d5 Plan was PTO increased only for existing employees.

@aq What'll happen is a 5 year plan. Drop sabbatical but "get more PTO". Then after 5 years, they'll "adjust" and drop PTO back to normal levels. I've seen it happen before at other companies.

Client facing at Fido is currently going back to one week a month. Everyone else is full time.

A five-day RTO at Schwab seems inevitable at this point.

Yes, Fido got the news today. Fido is also laying off. Schwab will have RTO5 this year. Waiting to hear about sabbatical elimination. For some time the discussion has drop sabbatical and get a little extra PTO based on tenure. Walt never liked sabbatical.
