It doesnt matter that it is supplier software. Dont we have specs to which the supplier must adhere? I am not an engineer so I dont know those processes. Doesnt software get tested by someone for functionality?

@f5 No one gets held accountable no matter how much damage they do with their bad decisions. It shows.

No one will be held to account for this. Remember, only applause for Ford.

Hey everyone I know this really sounds like bad news and it's probably another black eye for the company as far as consumer confidence goes but think about it this way.

Upper management and the executives are still going to get those sweet bonuses they deserve so we've got nothing to worry about.

Good news, my vehicle isn’t on the list.
Because I haven’t bought a Ford in 20 years.

@a8 But this wasn't Ford SW, it was supplier SW. You do realize that it will take a long time to move most ECU SW in house, right? That's sort of how vehicle program lead time and the current FSS model of product development work.

All jokes aside - isn't this serious matter? Shouldn't heads roll over this? Starting with the LL4 who's responsible for this software/release (not sure if it's being overseen from Chennai or Dearborn) all the way down? On one hand we claim we think/operate like a Software company and here we are - can't even release an update without glitches.

@ap LOL. The irony on comment is hilarious. I’ve been reading such comments for 5 years. In 2030 I will still be reading such comments with nothing to show for.

Sorry for you, but your sarcasm attempt falls flat. All the vehicles in this campaign are not Model e products or pre-Model e products. The software based products of the next-gen Model e offerings are not out in public yet. The software on these products will be best in class.

Another massive recall about a software issue.
Remember when Ford was going to transition into a world class software developer that just happened to build vehicles too.
Looks as though everything is going according to plan.

Never forget, it is important to 'continually DISRUPT ourselves!'
Oh, how we miss ya' Jimbo.
