Regardless of what you intend to pay in redundancy pay you have to go through the consultation period to make people redundant in the UK if you plan on making more than 20 people redundant. It must last a minimum of 45 days.

I think they’ll put the whole of the UK org at risk, trim it down to the numbers they want and they TUPE the remains into the BC entity.

What a Christmas party you’ll have folks! Was impacted as part of VMware’s move from Cork to BCN some years ago. Good luck to you all. Use consultation to get as much as you can from them

People down voting @jby+1pOu3Bef have clearly no clue about UK employment law because what he / she / they said is true.

No company would go down the consultation period route if they just pay up.

Only correction I have is - maximum is 20 years not 12

I don’t know about other countries but for UK the fact there is a consultation period is worrying. Because that implies they are going down the official redundancy route.

Which in turn means statutory severance which are peanuts. Statutory is 1 week pay per 1 year tenure, maximum of 12 years = 12 weeks pay and zero protection for people under two years of tenure = can be let go within contractual notice ( usually a month ).

Unless they go both ways and still pay severance to shortcut some consultations and use the official router for anyone that refuses to sign.

I literally just left VMware three days ago so I don’t know what the UK letters actually look like but been through half a dozen redundancies during my working life.

I know of some people who know they are leaving who have "Supervisor ()" showing right up to the top level, looks like a holding pen.

And BC people above Director level are showing as Supervisor also.....

Unless WD for VMware vs BC integrated Sym & CA looks different?

“even individuals holding Director and VP roles across various Business Units are categorized as supervisors in Workdays.“

It’s just the way BC have implemented WD. As simple as possible. It’s not a business title, just a grouping allowing managerial capability in the tool.

Our manager already told us to prepare for the worst case. We anticipate that our whole marketing organization will be eliminated once they are done with the notification process.
