Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Timeline Details

If we don't find out this week that we are laid off are we safe or is the bigger axe going to fall next week too?

Sounds like a good deal of USAC layoffs are already done this week. Some more to happen next week I imagine

The "former" SIBG VP for LatAm said it will take around 2 weeks to complete the process.

For folks outside of the USAC region, there is zero clarity on the timelines. No communication.
Seeing our USAC colleagues leave one by one and guessing our fate is tough to say the least.

I was told in my group under CRD that if we haven’t hears anything yet we are safe for this round of lay offs. Thats not to say that there wont be more in the future

Single mom, sorry to hear about your stress. Do the best to keep your family's spirits up so that the kid(s) don't get too stressed about your situation. I just found out today that a colleague of mine is leaving and has a newborn. Apparently, his department had some prework completed and laid off a few people this week.

Mike and Moni must make Mr. Grinch look like the caring Dr. Phil. Amazing these two are still around and deer in the headlights look at the investor call.

If you ever hear "trust the process" or "playbook" at a potential new employer, run away and fast!

Remember, with massive layoffs like this one, the limiting factor is HR. They must be at every meeting. Even if the meeting last just 15 to 20 minutes, the most they can fire is about 3 per hour to give HR time for biobreaks. That means one HR person can be involved in 24 firings per day. Most times, they have tried to avoid Friday firings so one HR person can be part of 96 terminations per week.

Tireman is probably right in saying everyone should know within 6 weeks. An HR person would go crazy involved in firing 96 people in one week, more less do this rapid fire over 3 weeks. So they will stretch this out to avoid "burnout" from HR. Also some of these HR people will be let go at the end.

I also believe 3M legal, which must review the terminations, is quite incompetent. Doubtful they have completed the legal reviews for 6000 people by now. They have been awful fighting the earplugs and Bair Hugger issue.

Sadly, I am a single mom. I am on my own after challenging times. If I get the pink slip things will be tough.

I realize now I should never have joined 3M when I did. It seemed like a great opportunity at the time for me and my family. I was wrong.

When people reach out to me and ask if 3M is a good company to work for I do not know what to say. I just refer them to the most recent articles on the layoffs. 😞

If you are on the US and make it to Tuesday your position is “safe”.

You are never out of scope for redundancy. It is a very unhealthy environment to work in
