@az ask the people who got caught destroying Tesla cars. Same laws would apply here and since the robot will be working inside a factory probably breaking and entering, trespassing, and anything else they can tack on. So go ahead.
Layoffs are happening somewhere every day, but that's not important right now.

In any case, attacking them will be considered property crime, as opposed to when they attack you, which will be considered an unfortunate malfunction or accident.

@aq it's not about replacing the below average, it's about replacing humans for greater profits. These are publicly traded companies not government paperweights.

That is what is driving the crazy datacenter growth and why companies are working so feverishly with service consultants.
Companies that fail to stay on the leading edge of this will see huge cost issues, and they all know it.
So they flatten the orgs, institutionalize performance improvement programs and slow down hiring as they weed out all the below average workers, then keep repeating that scrubbing till they see just how far AI can displace the existing workforce.
And this doesn't even consider what humanoid robotics is gonna bring to these companies. No need to offshore production because labor cost won't be a meaningful factor.

Everyone should expect layoffs to become far more continuous and localized than has previously ever been the case.
Ultimately, it will take the form of performance-based terminations, and even the current effort contains some of that.
Like the rest of Tech, Intel is moving towards GE-style Cloud Ranking, last seen at intel about 25 years ago. Also expect to see PIP, since that is all the rage these days.
Increasingly, employees are going to have to justify their existence, to a system designed to find them lacking.
They will not do it all at once. It looks super negative when they announce a big layoff. They need each division to do it separate so the numbers look smaller.
