Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel is in a death spiral

There is no recovery. No one is keeping their job. Most of you are never going to find another job. Yes AI is that good. If you don't realize it already it is too late for you to change course.

There are literally millions of jobs at companies that are not even considering replacing anyone with AI. The only companies actively doing this were horrible to work for in the first place. i.e. the tech companies with markets caps near of over $1trillion. They want to get rid of all of the human employees because they don't have the interpersonal skills for dealing with them. You can make a lot of money working for those companies but they will replace you the first chance they get. Intel won't replace you with AI, they don't understand it well enough.

Narrow AI does exist. It is just LLM. Learn it on wrong data, and you will have wrong answers. AGI does not exist, so my job is safe.

Why volunteer to leave? If Intel is willing to pay me, I will stay as long as I can until they lay me off. Most of us that have been here over 25 years have gotten tough and know how to survive at Intel. Not a lot of things stress us out. We (90% of us) don’t kiss the boss’s a$$, we don’t rat on our team mates and we admit when we make a mistake.

What if AI isn't really that artificial? Think about it....

This is what the book from the “Good to Great” series, “How the Mighty Fall” was written about. Specifically the Undisciplined Pursuit of More and Grasping for Salvation. No future Harvard Business studies here, we’re too textbook
