Don't get me wrong, it's still devastating for each of them, and I really feel for those affected. Every job loss hits a family, not just a person. But this wasn't the bloodbath everyone was expecting. Does this mean the big round is still ahead of us?

@ah 50k in IT sounds roughly about right. Before we moved to GHEC that was roughly the count of users on our GitHub.
I think people often forget how massive this company is and how easy it is for a ton of people to get laid off and for you to not even notice it because it doesn't impact the teams around you.
Yet.
I personally know 8 people that were laid off, it was a bloodbath. Red Wedding type.

Optum Infusion leadership is changing the titles of pharmacy directors, another reorg? I'd gladly take one for the team at this point. Had a meeting where our manager said head count is too high for what we produce despite hitting metrics and working like dogs. When asked for clarification she just said leadership is looking closely at individual performance... We are short staffed imo.
Big is relative....In an meeting it was stated there 50,000 in IT .A few hundred still fly way under that radar...

50 people from just my team.
@a1 Maybe 116 in a division. Seems very low for the people I know across different divisions of Optum.
It seems like a few hundred at least. Multiple areas across Optum have been impacted. I'm sure you will see a lot of Optum people posting they are looking for new opportunities in the next few weeks on LinkedIn.
It was big. But not everyone is posting. Not everyone checks or is aware of this site. So I wouldn’t let silence mean today wasn’t significant.
