Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Their goal is to paint a picture that we are failing employees

It’s a sick circle. They hand out plans and targets that are impossible to achieve. Lower managers won’t protest that in fear for their own head, but rather try to compensate by “beating” the employees to do more work.
In the end the goals cannot be achieved and we are pictured as employees that failed, no matter how much work was done. By that they create and ever present justifications for layoffs and reorgs,where none of us are ever safe. Like I said, it's a sick circle.

We are failing employees. Allstate brass makes sure of it with their unreasonable and impossible metrics. Makes it easier to toss us away or around to terrible roles. It gives them justification for the treatment they dole out.

The Lifers are holding the place together. They know who to ask for help and how to cut through obsfucation, if it is possible. They also know what to do with the numerous oddball tasks that come up (you know the ones that we get and go “what the heck does that mean?”) Allstate would love to see them leave as they are at the top of the pay scale. They may be holding on if they are retiring soon, or because they’ve got lots of vacation. Once they are gone, everyone else will be running around like chickens without a head trying to make sense of this place!
