Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Stock headed to single digits

If nothing even slightly improves this Q, we are looking at single digits in stock value. Oh boy. More layoffs and no more severances from now on. Forget about any bonuses or raises for engineering ICs

Book value?
Have you seen EUV steppers on EBay?
It’s going to be difficult to find buyers for these assets.
They are illiquid.
Intel can’t produce enough valuable wafers to offset the cost of capital. That’s why the stock is in the sh1tter.

14A is not economic without external volume.
Whe Pat said he bet the company on 18A - he wasn’t lying. He just lost the bet.

@ac Hard or soft book?
Last calcs I saw, hard book was ~$18 or so.

@ac book value is meaningless in this context. The stock is trading below book.

What matters is the company’s ability to generate cash from its assets. These assets are NOT liquid and depreciate quickly.

Underutilized fabs are a death hammer to huge fixed cost operations.

Don’t invest on “book value” here.

@aj They changed the rules last year, but prior to that I was frequently getting about 30% return in each period, because the stock was so volatile.

Even now it is still free money.

@ah you do pay taxes on capital gains. Unless you worked here for 10+ years and heavily invested in ESPP drawing less in your paychecks then sure you may have earned some cash. That's good for you. How about anyone who wants to enroll in ESPP today ? Would you advice to continue to do so or take that money and invest in a growth stock instead of?

@ag At times I have sat on ESPP but mostly chose to sell within days of it being released.

free money and lots of it over the years

@af you are saying OP and anyone else who does not work at Intel does not know how the stock has performed or looks at investor statements that are public or look at competition or pay attention to the news coming out of Intel to make prediction on the future value of the stock ? If anyone is buying stocks in bulk at this time please share the news so we can see how much the stock rises. Give us one promising product you will deliver by end of 2026 without TSMC and AMD and Broadcom eating your pie. I won't even talk about NVDA who is worth over 4T. But yes, keep buying those 15% discounted stocks. 15% off of a 20$ stock is saving you 3 bucks lol. Soon to be 1.5$. Buy yourself a burger from McDonalds dollar menu

@ae OP worked at Intel for 1 year, and that makes him an expert on the stock?

Never took the free ESPP money?

Watch and try to keep up with what is coming.

@ad OP here. Okay. Try working a few more years for a company whose stock is single digits and let me know if they are profitable and give you a raise that even matches inflation. I will wait.
P.S - left Intel last year after 1 year of being in that &@^hole of a place you call a company and never did ESPP and those RSUs were worth exactly what they were worth.

Not likely in the short term, the current book value is still over $22.50. If they start selling off assets this could change rapidly.
