There are members of my team I rarely see at the office. Doesn't seem fair I have to be in all the time and they get a 'pass' by our mo--nic leader. Glad that now at least it will be the same rules for all.

This post from @1a0+1jqafnr85 is identical to a thread on the Suncor page from back in 2023 during their purge. Fake News !!

Who is getting cold lay offs over phone calls on Monday and Friday ( typical WFH days), as the layoffs days are generally Tuesday to Thursdays which are office days.
This maybe 1-2 bad apples scenario only, speaking of that then most of the leadership should be gone with the 80%+ bad apple tree clearly, with the stock performance showing the truth.

Working from home is the biggest dodge/scam ever. I know for a fact that during cold call layoffs, more than half those "working at home" and getting calls were NOT at home and no where near their tablet when they got their 'call'. HR reports these stats "up" and so CLT knows this as well. So not a big surprise they cancelled it.

Our team has decided to remove Microsoft teams and outlook from our mobile devices immediately. Need to get into the rhythm of not responding to requests after core business hours now.

Abused the system? Tw-t. This isn't about abuse of a capability. We were allowed to work from home.

Presenting an argument that there was abuse and providing supporting metrics isn't what happened.

Ah boohoo you abused the system and now once it ends you cry. I’m surprised that some of you can dress yourselves in the morning or does your mother put out your clothes the night before?

Senior management must review all contractors that work from home and ask a question "why". One can hire his relative (cousin or uncle etc) and nobody would know. Where are the controls? Safety contractor to work from home? He must be at site inspecting, checking to ensure there are no hazards , providing orientations

If they really want to “Streamline work and become more efficient” … get rids of groups like Continuous Improvement and Digital Optimization in Downstream.

Back in the 1980’s Husky had a Technical Services group in Calgary. Guess what happened to it? It was disbanded and the various employees were either terminated or offered positions at the plants [PG or Lloyd]. Do that again.

Plenty of ignorant comments here from “site workers” who seem to think office employees are just whining about having to go to the office 5 days per week. I’ve worked “on site”, in the field and in the office. They are all different, and all three have different demands. Many roles in the office also require long 12+ hour days in the office. When a site or field worker leaves their shift, they get to leave the site and drop the responsibility of that physical work. When some office roles leave the office, they get home and spend many more hours working whether it be preparing for meetings or technical presentations, planning projects or responding to facility, safety or drilling operations in an on-call role. Sometimes, what you think is a simple 8.5 hour office day turns into a 16 hour office AND work from home day. Being “on site” and working in the office have different roles and responsibilities, and they have different demands. Using “on site” roles as justification for making office employees return to the office 5 days per week is absurd and ridiculous, and demonstrates a true lack of understanding these different roles.

I love my commute. Couldn't be happier. Calgary traffic is the best. Riding Calgary transit is one of the highlights of my day. It is a worthwhile and necessary sign of societal superiority to force as many humans as possible into the downtown core. Downtown is the only place where real work can get done. Facts.

"Our stock price su-ks, we wasted a billion dollars on core, and our downstream business is hot garbage. Whats our plan?"

"I know! Let's kick our employees in the ba--s!", Jon-oligarch

"Great idea. Should we give them a reason?", HR.

"To streamline work and become more efficient as we progress our priorities and improve our competitiveness", Jon-oligarch.

@b1+1jqafnr85 - NAILED IT! No people skills at all! They should send out the employee engagement survey now! People should be BRUTALLY honest and hope and pray someone listens! We have to get back to a better place to work if we have to go in 5 days a week!!! Work from home was BY FAR my most productive day!

Yes @b3+1jqafnr85

Suncor also fired 25% of employees. Many of which with 20+ years of experience. Now HR is trying to attract a younger generation but with no mentors. Winning !!

PS
A 91-Day turnaround to replace the Plant 1 coke drums is nothing to brag about in this industry !!

Bad move JM! Really a shortsighted and old school thought process that won’t land well with employees, right after your attempt at a motivational lets dig in and work together to move the needle. By far my most efficient and productive day of the week is my WFH day. No running around to multiple elevator banks and different floors for meetings. No getting ambushed in my cubicle multiple times a day. No need to spend time going to get lunch. No distractions listening to my neighbors yak on the phone all day to their spouse or chit chat with coworkers. It’s glorious at home. I also haven’t taken a sick day for like 3 years but you can bet your a$$ I’ll be taking a sick day with the slightest sign of a sniffle or headache.

Back before COVID when we were all in the office there were …

  • Those who went to Starbucks for coffee multiple times a day
  • Those who left for the gym at 11:30 AM
  • Those who chatted in little groups
  • Two hour lunches
  • Friday afternoon at the bar
  • Sick every Monday

So yeah … returning to five days is gonna be “more productive”

Hey there @ad+1jqafnr85 … the Legacy HSE contractor here … engineer to be exact. My chargeout rate is more than double my equivalent hourly salary in my previous position. What I actually said is I make more part-time than I used to without the headaches like dealing with dolts like you !!!

Clearly none of the people whining about the wfh have ever worked on a site. At a site you have to go in after hours to fix things. You go in on weekends and holidays. That’s how the company makes money - not from your Calgary office breaks. And it’s not like the offices you work in are 3rd world or the bloody mines. Such an entitled lot.

When are we going to push back as employees!!!

Time to protest this BS. I would declare Friday April 4th as official “I’m sick” day. Stay at home that day. If enough employees contribute then the message will be heard. Or do nothing and expect less.

Also, ramp it down in the field. Increase the need for sustaining capital. You know what I’m saying.

Jon needs to get kicked out. No people skills or share price return. Go

@a7+1jqafnr85 is the person “Winning” as Rich Kruger would say. They’ve got work / home balance. No commute. Less stress. Better health. Likely pay less in income tax.

My day starts by taking my kids to school. Grab a coffee at Starbucks. Return home … sit down in front of my computer and go online. I made as much in fours hours as I did previously. I am Legacy HSE. Later I go for a walk with the dog before picking kids up after school on the playground. One of my clients is Cenovus.
