Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

OK! Who is buying

Imperial isn’t doing anything amazing right now. I know the ins and outs of IOL, and there is nothing new to push the stock price so high and so fast.

Now the question is who is buying IOL?? ExxonMobil is not taking over for sure, because they will not buy IOL at this high stock price when they have full control of the company with their +69% ownership.

No chance it is Suncor, they don’t have the kind of cash necessary to buy us out.
Also they do layoffs regularly, not sure that’s any better than our Exxon overlords. The only nice thing would have having career progression opportunities to senior management here in Canada.

Its going to be Suncor. Just makes sense with all the movements from IOL to Suncor over the past couple years. Movement to Suncor's downtown office. Maybe this is a pipedream as I for one would love to disconnect from the nightmare that is ExxonMobil.

Who is buying Imperial? Likely one cash rich entity that previously failed to acquire some Esso branded downstream assets? We'll see in a little over a week from now.

@ac IMO has been buying its stocks for decades. I can’t believe I have seen this kind of price escalation before. This can’t been the root cause.
