Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Culture Eats Strategy For Breakfast

Indulge me for a post. Assume our leaders have a sound strategy for Intel to turn around intact. Indulge me.

Three cultural problems could derail that.

  1. defeatism. slacking. quiet quitting
  2. desperation. burn out. overwork. If work is cutting into self care you’re not giving your best anymore.
  3. negativity. toxicity. beating up your coworkers (even if they deserve it, say, for being in camp 1 or 2)

I mention it because our den of trolls is a breeding ground for all three. We do want a turnaround (don’t we?) we may not be convinced it is possible (I struggle here) but civility is a cheap way to contribute to it

What’s Intel’s current culture? Indian nepotism and H1B replacement of a once great American titan?

Or repeating Moore’s law, resting on our laurels, and other useless platitudes of culture past?

No wonder everyone is so checked out.
Stick a fork in er’. She’s done!

@ad: well ok. From a boss’s perspective culture is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans. Culture is what you actually reward as opposed to what you claim you reward. This distinction was particularly important under Pat, and learning how to keep one’s head down in the midst of layoffs. There’s a Bible verse about counting the cost before going on an expensive journey. I think Pat cut that out of his Bible.

@ac: I think you’re right especially because if you stand up in your department meeting and declare “I am a change agent!” you’ll be watched closely and possibly added to the next layoff list. Management doesn’t want help here they want shut up and say yes to more work

@a6 if you are so gullible to believe in the "one Intel" and ability to make change inside, then I have a bridge to sell you buddy!

You are just an worker bee! There are so many people who left Intel cause of that reason last year. It's gone, accept it and save yourself!

yeah, what’s the good of the turnaround if you get booted? I was merely looking for something inside my zone of influence instead of the big issues none of us can fix

Just shut up man, we are tired of anticipation of being laid off.

We have more things worry about than things you mentioned. CEO and the board members all care about money, nothing else. Intel is dead!

Things you mentioning are symptoms of a larger condition that is the greed of board members. Solve the root cause not the symptoms!
