Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel became an incredibly boring place, if you like what you do

A failing company has no use for hard-working, skilled people who still take pride in what they do. There is no room for passion or personal growth. Intel now runs on mediocrity because it became a mediocre company, one with no vision and no direction. It has become, quite frankly, one of the most boring places to work.

To one's surprise, some teams at Intel have very healthy org. I suggest exploring these. And taking pride in what you do, no matter what. Intel is huge, never let your work be boring. Be a victor, not a victim.

@a3
Meanwhile those sitting back trying to enter enough IP data into their favorite AI tool so it will solve a problem they were hired to solve, while their brain and cognitive function shrinks away into neolithic past. Sometimes there isn't an easy way to solve a problem, if there was all you TicTok scrollers would have improved EUV yields and costs at Intel and it wouldn't be circling the drain.

Agree that many are still so oblivious that the rest of industry has moved on. Intel is a washed up has been. Intel on resume is toxic. Nobody wants Intel folks. This isn’t the Ocotillo country club days anymore. Intel can’t even fund a staff lunch or 5 dollar goodie drawer awards. lol!

I think the part everyone here is missing is Intel has become a joke. But internally people still act like it was 10 years ago and we are the cream of the crop. It’s wild. We have become the laughing stock of industry that no one will hire yet a lot of folks walk around with such swagger like we are the kings of it all. It’s mind blowing bewildering.

It is quite true: Intel does not value hard-working and skilled engineers, no room for personal growth, runs on mediocrity. And so many downside .... that it is a perfect example for business school research of "why a company failed", "how long can a failed company last" ....

In my 9 years of experience at Intel, I can say some people prioritize hard work because

  1. they lack other skills (efficiency, intelligence, communication- things that make work easier) and see hard-work as the only solution to problems.
  2. they have a psychological need to show productivity to management, even by generating garbage data.
  3. they have no life outside engineering, and work is the only interesting thing they have going for themselves and consequently find passion in it.
