I read ead the posts about GM lay offs , same story as Ford , with one difference GM is more considerate to all levels lay offs, not just engineers.
so true @aa. I grew up in a household with two narcissist parents. Loads of fun but I learned to spot a malignant narcissist from a mile away. The first time I saw him speak (2008ish) I saw right through him. His facial expressions and body language did not align with his words. He was saying nice things about his boss while his facial expression read contempt. My coworkers originally said oh he is just on the spectrum but is a nice guy.
But pretty quickly he was dubbed Two-Jims. The ole let me love-bo-b you to get what I want and then flip on a dime and rage and disparage you.
@OP asking why a narcissist is the way they are is a fools errand. So is thinking that they will change or truly care about others. Sure they can fake empathy. You know photo ops at a food pantry. But it is fake.

yes , he just want to pump stock up so that he can cash in before it hit back to ground and never recovred, and he leaves with few more awards from suppliers and other boot lickers!
Note that Ford Q2 was up 14% from last year. Now why are they laying off so many now?
He’s a narcissist who actively dislikes his workforce that is all it is. Listen to what he says in the press. He has the wrong people. Every person he hires is from outside Ford/Auto.
In a parallel universe he didn’t backstab Joe Hinrichs out of the company and he’d be gone but here we are.
He just wants to raise the stock price even if it hardly goes up it's worth it to him. I think its been going down his entire tenure so think of it as look I am doing something.
