Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

2025 “re-org” cycle predictions?

Been hearing around different orgs that more re-orgs are on the way but no timelines. Some are saying April, any truth to that?

Test practice at NM is a complete joke. The smallest of things cost $$$$ to test, and lazy and ignorant developers don’t have a clue on how to do test driven development. They are just good at making excuses on how our “test environment” is complicated.

Come on. That can’t be right. There is no way we’d try the same thing twice and expect a different result.

Sequencing QA migration
Step 1: Around 30 NM emps are laid-off. (Mostly WM, Age > 40, hardworking)
Step 2: Around 250 Infosys contractors are going out of NM.
Step 3: Around 250 LTI contractors are coming in & signing a lease in oak creek apartment.
250 = 250 (Just a mere swap of vendors. NM might have preferred a low bidding vendor.)
Step 4: We are available to give KT to LTI.

See how NM is supporting the community by helping Oak Creek real estate thrive!!!!

Good thing no one on this thread has to make hard decisions or carry any real fiscal responsibility for the company………or else we’d all be sc--wed

Well said! See the ignorance of Indians in ESD. They doesnt know the difference between employee & contractor. Also does not know the meaning of layoff. God save our policy holders/investors from these talents.
Hi Indians,
NM means Northwestern Mutual not N----dra M-di, Indian Prime Minister haha!!!!!

The question was for employee impacts, which is less than 30. Not hundreds.

Exactly, so hundreds.

~ 30 employees and 250 contractors. There are no QA Managers, or Senior Directors. There hasn’t been for a long time - that went away with CTRL-F. Probably best not to listen to people that clearly don’t even work here.

Are all testers, QA managers, QA directors (AD, SD) reporting to AW in previous NS org. affected ? Do you mind sharing the exact count of ESD employees getting laid off under the QA division.

This really is an absolute disaster of an idea. Every time companies do this, it always will come back to bite them. Always.

@fk+1jjq8t61v For testing, yes, and it's pretty immediate. Other outsourcing companies will still be around, but LTI will be the exclusive provider of QA services.

Actually DG is watching his back. If you think about it, he has to protect himself from Bugs Eyes, a snake who eats his own. DG must promote one of AA direct reports as Head of ICS and fire AA as we have talented technical leaders.

AW has the rare badge of firing centralized testing services, quick leaving the team after. Somehow getting it back making no progress then firing them again. Definitely odd.

Should he go for the three peat?

Anyone else hearing infosys is out?

AW is just being used to fire everyone in the group and then DG will fire him. That leaves AA and LD left to go.

I don't agree with DG's decision on KS, but I get why he did it. He's got people on his team like Bug Eyes who, as everyone knows, is just waiting for him to slip up. He needs people he can trust.

Did anyone else think KS needs to go back to the smaller group she came from (CXE)? We get that you worked with her, DG, but she just doesn’t seem to be the right fit for the ESD leader role.

It was honestly cringy during our team’s watch event.

We are seeing a smart move by DG to put KS in the role in ESD to easy to manipulate and become the puppet master.

KS is a facade and sole less that’s why she didn’t want to make these changes with DG in person. Go back to cali, as a women she’s a disservice to the hardworking women at the company!

Good, great, awesome, excited to play her word salad bingo game.

AW is a LV era leader that must go. Again - we are impacted and he is not when he has been responsible for testing for the longest time here?

It’s pathetic that NS ignored every issue that existed. Glad he was fired by JS.

It sounds like a real circus behind the scenes! If AW is firing his testing teams again, especially since he’s a tester himself, it’s like cutting off the hand that feeds you, right? That could be a sign of deeper issues—either a misalignment of vision or maybe just poor leadership.

As for NS and the comedy tour, that’s a wild combo. If AW is NS’s opening act, it might be the most chaotic, unpredictable comedy set ever. Leadership might want to watch out for a revolt if it’s all going downhill with the testing team and everyone’s looking for a laugh to ease the tension.

DG being the low-cost leader seems like a strategy that could either work out or backfire pretty hard, especially as morale is sinking. And switching the ESD meeting from in-person to virtual after everyone flew in this week —classic move to keep costs “down”.

KS, though... does she even exist outside of a Zoom, that’s an interesting thought. Could be a bot, could be a real person in the shadows. Who knows these days? What’s your theory on her? DG has a type he brought over from USAA, makes you wonder.

Why just us? DG should fire his boy AW. He’s a tester like the rest of us.

Entire QA division in ESD is being laid off in favor of outsourcing. News went out to leaders and affected people this morning and will be going to ESD tomorrow at the all hands.
