Paramount and Oracle hooking up

Heard from two senior folks now that all the tech and operations get outsouced to Oracle to save that promised $2B. Helps Paramount and very good for Oracle cloud. Any truth here?

@ew tells you don’t know what tech does without telling me

@ej The company needs to save 2B not tech. The whole tech budget is not even that much. Stop pretending like you have any idea what you are talking about.

@dj you have to be crazy no to believe that almost every aspect of tech will be outsourced or managed by oracle and its partners. Everything from platforms rebuilds, cloud, corp, ERP, maintenance etc

As tech contracts come to an end they will be moved to oracle or their partners.

@dj "Tech is not getting outsourced to Oracle." okay, then explain how $2B happens. We just went down $500K and it was deep cuts. Another $2B is something that is not "more or the same". Start listening and stop wishing.

Tech is not getting outsourced to Oracle. Oracle's managed service covers Oracle's products, so yes you could see this in the world of cloud, application support and database management. It's no secret that we are moving to Oracle's ERP solution. I am sure Oracle Cloud will be next. It is very cheap but you get what you pay for.

Oracle could absorb Paramount’s media technology and operations to quickly boost its media cloud presence and compete with AWS and Azure. This move would give Oracle real credibility in media services, adding expertise in content supply chain, ad tech, and rights management. For Paramount, outsourcing to Oracle helps hit the $2B cost savings target by offloading infrastructure and reducing headcount. Oracle gains a flagship client and recurring revenue, while Paramount becomes leaner and more cloud-driven. This partnership sets a model for Oracle to pitch similar deals across the industry, expanding their media footprint and turning cost centers into profit drivers.

“All tech and operations” getting outsourced makes zero sense. Maybe they take running the erp system but you do know tech is a lot more than what oracle is capable of.

I don't understand why anyone would be surprised by any of this. Numerous articles already discuss Oracle's approach to Skydance, like it's not already a family business. The $100M annual contract for tech is just the beginning. Oracle's managed services business generated a total revenue of $57.4 billion in 2022. We are not dealing with someone who is unaware of the significant savings that can be achieved by outsourcing Paramount's bloated and overpaid tech operations. My guess is all bets are off, and unless HR is prepared to put it in writing that you're safe, assume you're not. Be like me; keep the CV tuned up and ready for action.

There definitely will be an integration of Oracle. There was an article the other day regarding a new $100 million contract for oracle cloud. Not sure how that affects on site tech though. We currently use AWS we still have in house technicians

@OP It’s been noted in a lot of public stories that they will be using oracle for tech and cloud. But it won’t save the while $2b. - that is most likely coming from studio/team mergers.
