Model E is running out of money. When will it end?
OMG. If I owned a business that lose over $1b every 3 months, I would file for bankruptcy already.

@db Doug, get the fu-k off here with your $3 million whisk-y shop. Everybody knows you can't run sh-t. $3 million whisk-y shop my a-s.
@jd no startup is burning $1.3 billion per quarter. The average startup funding up to Series C is about $100 million and it takes several years to get to that stage: https://www.fundz.net/what-is-series-a-funding-series-b-funding-and-more
Where did it all go? Where’s the crazy lineup of talent they hired like zuck did? The builders?
What happened? Did they not embrace spirit of what DF and MJ were offering? Or did they think it was horsesh-t.
Where did the money go? Why don’t we get line items granularly? I don’t understand how all that money is just poof— gone
Millions of years, dinosaurs ruled the planet.
Then this meteor just falls out of the sky and poof, no more dinosaurs.
I can’t even imagine how DF and MJ might have felt.
If I lose a quarter in the soda machine, my entire day— Ruined.
And they will have lost almost 71.2 billion quarters by the end of this year.
@jd What “startup” is draining 5 billion a year.
BTW I KNOW MODEL E
I know the REAL model e.
It’s a fu--ing lie. And they fooled everyone in Michigan.
It’s not a startup!!!!!!!!!
@pr+1k1egfpjr ... "Honda just rebranded some GM EV vehicles as Hondas" ...need to look which EVs they were... very interesting. I always thought that the Chevy Volt would have sold much better if it had been a Honda or Toyota. That was a really good car. The 2nd gen even kind of looked like a Civic from the back. too many people have had bad experiences w/ Big 3 MBA-cheapened cars over the years. we are still reaping the penalties of the malaise era, and all the mini malaise eras after it. (we seem to be in a mini malaise era now with all the recalls and trans/engine etc problems). like a mini ice age.
Meanwhile Honda and Toyota are laughing their way to the bank and continue trouncing Ford with a sensible Hybrid approach. Honda just rebranded some GM EV vehicles as Hondas to see how EV played out and now announced they are basically abandoning EVs. How in the world can the F BOD allow the CEO to bet the entire company on an EV strategy that there isn’t a customer base for?
I know team EV will claim EV will save the company but open your eyes and ears
If the goal is to save the company Bill better step out of the group think echo chamber and accept reality. I know that is asking a lot in a company where the only acceptable response is applause; as was demonstrated by Kumar not having time for the youngsters question at the TH.
Most startups burn tons of money before they fail.
Really, Tesla is the only exception in EVs and a lot of people in the Skunkzone don't come from Tesla.
@aj bullsh-t, the entire program is way over budget and way behind on schedule. When it finally comes out, it will be no better than the existing EVs.
"loss"
lol
Never forget.
Ford is a very large, very fancy money laundering machine that happens to make cars.
That 'lost' money went exactly where it was supposed to.
How does it happen?
Ask the Board of Directors.
What the h=ll have you guys been doing these past 5 years? Put the beanbags away and get to work.
Oh but wait 5 (projected)...not 5.1...does that mean its improving.
They need to either get thier sh^t together or get outta the way. This is getting ridiculous.
@db If I had a whisky company making $3M/yr profit, I wouldn’t be on a job gripe message board.

@av+1k1egfpjr also the door handles. because so many customers wanted fancier door handles. (?) "we are customer driven!" they need to decontent the mach-e and lightning. too much expensive fancy.
I started a whisky business. First 3 years I lost $1 million. Now I rake in $3 million a year in profit. You have to invest and sometimes lose money to make money. You just worry about paying your mortgage, not how Ford makes money.
@a6 Are those values badge swipes?
Model E lost 1.3B but then on the very next page, Mod-E was included as the reason we have a strong "underlying performance". I dont think those words mean what they think they mean. Like, do they read this sh-t before sending it out? Or are they trying to make DF feel better?
State of the art?
More like a day late and a dollar short.
@ay “ first of all, you will never own a company that loses $1 billion every 3 months”
Weird flex.
Also, it’s not a flex to be locked in a position where a bankruptcy cannot be declared and so you just have to sort of take the L
@OP, first of all, you will never own a company that loses $1 billion every 3 months. 2nd, losing money isn’t enough justification to declare bankruptcy, so the court would decline your request unless you can meet the real criteria for bankruptcy.
@aj Ford Model-E spends 100 million revolutionizing the knob.
The world just isn’t ready.
@a2+1k Some people might be new to Ford like you , or don't understand the engineering in depth. "State of the art " sounds like a lunacy , to be honest . 6 months VS 4 years ( past). Maybe on mushroom 🍄 medications....
“It’s a startup”

Do you even work at Ford? The actual true Model e products aren't even out yet! Some here may call them the "Gen2" Model e, but in truth the real state-of-the-art Model e vehicles are yet to come. They will indeed take the market over from OEM's that think they are the segment leaders.
Just be patient, you will not be disappointed with whats in store. I hope leadership considers showing us a teaser in the Global Town Hall tomorrow.
They are too big to failing
Badge Swipes
For some reference, here are the model e yearly figures by year in Billions:
2021 (0.9)
2022 (2.1)
2023 (4.7)
2024 (5.1)
2025 (5) Projected
Total (17.8)
Of course this dos not include other divisions which offset the (__) to gains. It would be nice to understand the intended timeframe to be in the black and the long term forecast gains.
Makes 0 sense I don't even know what they count as model e anymore? Evdd? Skunkworks? Latitude ai? Or mache and f150 lightning? Seems like they are just pulling numbers out of their a-s
It will end with bankruptcy. The underutilized battery plants will be the boat anchors that drag Ford down. Q2 profit doesn’t cover the investment needed to continue.
