@bj IFS didn't exist decades ago. TMG yes definitely at fault. FS has fought them all along on cost and inefficient practices

They missed the boat on EUV due in part to penny pinching financial direction resulted in developing processes which have far too many extra litho steps adding to production time, cost. No wonder TMSC is cheaper. Intel is now getting 30 % of its products manufactured at TMSC proves the management made mistakes
It's a tie between TMG/IFS and Finance. TMG/IFS being grossly inefficient and extremely high cost in manufacturing... and Finance being a complicit partner in letting it go on for decades until the lie became unstainable. A close third is Engineering (and Finance again) for not being able to design anything good for about 20 years, and ran off legacy Merom designs (with Finance just rubber stamping ROIs and NPVs by letting die sizes ballon out of control).
TD is a toxic place and should be called Toxic Department.
Whole TD was ruined by poor management and horrible leadership. No truth, no transparency. Only lie after lie and delay product launch.
Probably Ann is not the right leader for LTD in the past 5 years. She has no TD or development experience before. Sadly she hired bad managers everywhere in TD. Some good groups (like the one I used to work) are assigned with wrong manager and this deeply destroyed TD.

@a6 Huge egos with theoretical education most of whom couldn't transition to practical application if their lives depended on it. Yet they think they are hot sh-t. Old guard still protecting each other, not a good environment to innovate to the next level. Only chance is to remove the old and start anew and even that is against the odds.
TD is garbage. Je-k their puds in meetings all day with no resolution on anything then Pat theirselves on the back.
They couldn’t develop a process to get their way out of a paper bag if their life depended on it.
