Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What do you want to know about the in-progress layoff

I am thinking if we pool questions in a thread we may get some answers

@a6 The Oregonian lets this site write most of their Intel content.

You can literally see something here, then it pops up there.

And that is not fake news.

See how wildly they attack anyone who mentions it?

@as become a bad employee. Your work is always late and incomplete, don't respond to emails in a timely manner, ... don't violate policy just become dead weight. Don't give them cause to fire you on the spot just make yourself the person they want to through under the bus. You will make one of the lists. I have confidence! If you are a habitual good employee it will actually be a lot harder to su-k at your job than just doing it right.

@as The list is done. If you're not already on it, they're not going to add you.

How do I get on the list? Seriously? 20 years service, I’m a 57 and told by area manager we are not going to be in the group selected, but I want out? Can I make a HR complaint? Just to cause trouble see if I can get on the list?

@a4 In my group it was entirely the manager protecting their pets and getting rid of anyone who didn't su-k up.

Is this performance-based or political?
Are people being walked out?
Should I be more afraid to stay than to leave?
Was Rule 75/70/65 used for targeting older employees?
Any differences in the severance package?

@a1 the selection was made by their direct manager like a month ago. Ultimately HR made the decision, but they did so based on how their manager rated them based things like communication, problem solving, how much actual work they get done, etc.

This was told to me by my direct boss, so I know that to be true for my group (a random mid sized one in the foundry)

How are people getting notified?
Email?
Teams Message?
Tik Tok?
Instagram?
Facebook for the older people?

@a1 in my group it’s almost exclusively top earners with low levels of contribution. People that take a lot of time off, vacation, holiday, PA, sabbatical… it’s almost all 56/57’s that don’t do much actual work.

They have not laid off a single 54 or 55 in my group of 50 people.
