I have never had to worry about layoffs since my father brought me into the union 30 years ago. I show up to work and start my day with a nice nap and I get paid for lunch. All the while making 200K

IBEW 1212 members with (# of yrs at company) + (age) = 70 got offered a buyout to them as a way to layoff those under the bargaining agreement. So union isn't safe either.
I frankly wish we could. I and others are independent contractors, only its been years of working full time with their gear, so actually we are just full time employees without benefits. Its a joy! But oh yeah, the last time this group attempted to unionize, they were all fired.
I'm waiting for IBEW to go the way of UAW and endorse Trump.

Union got a tentative contract for 13% for 3 years. We are schedule to loose that in this round.
A lot of folks got laid off to pay for the new union contract. You heard it here first.
We can bring scrappy the rat if you like. Our members will just pay for it.
